More forgiving, Taylormade P790 v Mizuno JPX900 Hot Metal?

I’m currently playing the JPX900 Hot Metal and they are a really great set of irons, launch the ball high with plenty of forgiveness, especially out on the toe where I live!

I’ve an opportunity to buy a set of P790 in the same shaft at a great price. I definitely don’t need them but am really interested in having a bash with them nonetheless.

Just an idea on forgiveness and performance in general between the two clubs would be great, anyone out there with experience of both clubs who can chime in?

I play the HMs right now but my next set will probably be the P790s. I went from a 12-14 handicap two years ago to a 4 right now and still game the HMs. One thing I noticed though in the specs, the P790s are a tad smaller than the JPX 900 forged, and almost a full 7mm smaller than the HMs (but bigger than the whole MP-18 line). Also, the offset on the P790s is roughly 2mm less than the HMs. IMO, I play the biggest/most forgiving irons I can stand to look at, but damn those P790s are pretty, though the JPX919 Forged are sexy too.

I owned both...don’t own either any more as I am a HO...but the hot metals were def more forgiving. Now granted when I gamed them, they were the 4-6 in a combo set with 900 F’s 7-P. I enjoyed hitting them...but I was lusting after the P790’s and was smoking them when I demo’d so I let the Mizzys go. When I got the p790’s in hand I hadn’t been playing/practicing much so I gave them up for something friendlier. The new Mizzy line looks sweeeet though and I’d love to give the HM’s a demo.

stick with the HM for sure, and I just bought a set of P790s off BST. HM is definitely more forgiving. In my mind 790s were more comparable to the forged, but slightly longer which is why i went that direction.
