The release

Has anyone else noticed that there are a lot of different ways to release iron shots and get reasonable results from, but the driver... One of my goals this season is to tame the beast, with the beast being my driver. I have come to the understanding that I am too steep with a high handle leading to ee and an open face. So I have decided to revamp my release and try to get my hands down more and get the club to swing more horizontal with what I believe would be an overhand release. Which is different for me, because I generally play a strong grip and hold off. What I am noticing is that with the irons everything is still good, ball flight is a bit higher, but distance is relatively the same. 5w I can draw, 3w I can hit straight, but driver, on a good shot it will be a slight push fade, on a bad shot it is a big slice. When I try to draw the driver I get big push slices. What I have observed is that my left arm will not release the club. Well, I can force the issue and hit it way left, but to allow the club to release like my irons just doesn’t happen. The biggest difference I think is how far from my body my hands are with the driver. So with my driver my hands are too far away, and the natural rotation is either slowed or stopped. I have even gone pretty extreme with dropping the club behind me and trying to feel the club go end over end. But still no go. I have tried weaker and stronger grips, still the same results.

Again, the only thing I can think of is my left arm stopping the rotation. Anyone else experience this, and did you get it fixed?

We should swing every club the exact same way, the only thing that changes is ball position. If your struggling with your driver, get someone to take a photo of you from the front so you can see your ball position and driver shaft angle(as you want your lead arm and driver shaft to be in one straight line). Then watch this video link and compare your set up to the set up in the video.

If you want to really improve your release try the drill in the first link, throwing the club drill.

When looking at p6 with the iron compared to the driver, it looks like the hands have moved closer to the body with the driver. This is where I think my issue is. My hands are too far away from my body at p6 with the driver, which stops the rotation of my left arm.
