x-22 tour vs x-forged 09

comparing the forgiveness
I am looking at getting either the x22 tours or the x forged (09). I have hit both at but only into a net and they both felt good. I was wondering if any one had any insight on these two models. I have read mixed reviews about the x forged and that some people say they are forgiving and others say they are very demanding. I am a 12 handicap(would be single digits if I could putt) and want to move to a less of a shovel like iron with less offset.I am playing the nak nx5 with dgsl s300. Some stats about my swing is my 6 iron swing speed is about 82-85 and my misses tend to be high and left. Like i said before I hit both indoors and the forged felt smoother but both felt good. I was hitting it in the center of the club face and I might just have been having a good day but it did not seem that hard to hit. Any insight would be great!!

Well I was in the same boat as u. I play to an 11 and I went with the x- forged. I just felt they look better behind the ball felt better when well struck and seemed more forgiving than they look. Also they r endo forged. Do a search and their is a great review on here about them from bulldog I think. Good luck they r btu nice iron just felt X- Forged were better

Forget the X-forged. X-22 Tours are much more forgiving. On days when your swing isn't so good you'll curse the day you bought 'em (the X-forged).

I'm looking in this area myself.

There are forgiving "players" clubs out there. If you like Cally's, their new Diablo forged is getting some good ink although I personally am not crazy about them. R9 TP's aren't bad. Titleist AP2's are fairly forgiving for a "player's" iron. Even the Mizuno MP-58 is more forgiving than the X-forged (not as much as the other 2 I mentioned though). Cobra's new forged club seems very forgiving as well.

Good luck. :hi:

I have owned and played both. IMO, go with the X Forged 09 (assume you mean the 09 vs the 07 version) vs the X 22 Tours. Forgiveness between the two is marginal and the feel and playability you get from the X forged vs the X22 Tours is much better. If you are speaking of the 07 X Forged version then I would say X22 Tour if forgiveness is higher on your priority list vs. total playability. Callaway did an excellent job with the 09 version adding more bounce, a friendlier sole, and a lower CG vs the original X Forged club. The only thing I loved about the X22 Tour's was the distance I was getting , due to stronger lofts I was getting an extra 5-10 yrs more per club which can help in the lower irons (hitting a 6 iron vs a 5 iron on approach shots) but that was about it, very little feel.

Thanks for the info. I my brain knows i should go with the x22 tours but wow the x forged look good and feel good. I was looking at the MPF numbers and the forged was rated higher than the x22 tours so it put some confusion in my mind. I want to get whatever iron is going to be more forgiving and the MPF numbers say it is the x forged but looking at them it does not look like the numbers are right. But beside feel and looks what would be the advantages going with the forged over the tours?

I was going through a similar decision last year at this time. I hit the X22 Tours and loved them, however I went with the X22s. You can get a custom shaft in the X22 from Callaway if that is one of the reasons you are looking at the X22 Tours. You can order them this way direct. A lot of folks don't know this and think you have to get the uniflex shaft.

The X22 Tours feel fantastic, but IMHO my X22s feel the same and I have a little added forgiveness. I carry 3-W.

The X Forged have a great feel to them too and have a tad lower ball flight.

In the end, I went with forgiveness over anything else.

Good luck with your choice.
