Hole In One

Hi everyone,

After finishing my round today, I continued to play some additional holes, as I was dissatisfied with how I was striking the ball earlier in the day. I reached the 13th hole (par 3, 158M) and decided to hit multiple balls (six in total).

All of the approaches were quite good, and I thought that several would be quite close to the hole. As I got closer (I have poor long distance vision, so I was unable to see this from the tee) I noticed that one was in the hole!

Generally, this would have been a significant occasion as it would be my first hole in one. However, no-one was around to see it and it wasn't in competition. Due to this, it does not feel as if I have achieved a hole in one.

How does everyone else feel about this? Would you consider it a hole in one, or would it need to be in competition (or witnessed)?

personaly, i wouldnt call it a hole in one. i would only count it if it was my first shot on a hole i was actually playing, not practicing on. none the less it still is a great shot on your part.

I did that last month. I hit my first one rigt of the pin about 12 ft. I was the only one there but there were people on the 5th green watching my shots. I hit my 2nd ball and it landed in the cup after a right sidespin down the hill. They were all freaking out. I covered my divot and went to my cart. They were all saying congrats. I told them it was my 2nd ball. They were all ready to lie for me saying I got a hole in one. I told them no thanks and went on my way.

That is so true, and in addition I was using a Titleist Pro V1.

It is like every other number on your card. You can write down anything you want; you are the one that has to live with it.

Generally, I would count it whether or not it was witnessed or in competition, as long as it was my FIRST shot.

Regardless of a foursome's accountability in seeing your hole out, you along with millions up in clouds saw it...look at it this way, with heaven watching you holed out in front of a gallery that even Tiger hasn't seen the like's of...

That's a good way to look at it. Hopefully it won't be too long before I get one in competition.
