Lost Creek Country Club - Austin

I'm thinking about joining Lost Creek Country Club and was wondering if anybody on here is a member or has played there. I'm going to schedule a round there soon through the membership director but was wondering how the course is, condition, difficulty, pace of play, etc. Also, my wife will be utilizing the fitness center, the dining facility to host business lunch's and things like that, and I have a 5 year old who is always happy to go swimming.

 

We are primarily interested by the location first, and the price of a junior membership isn't too bad (I'm 32 and she is 30). With those two factors in mind, are there any other places I should be looking at?

I played it a few years ago. I don't remember too much about it. I don't remember having any major complaints. I think the only thing I remember telling myself about it was "narrow fairways". Outside of that, not much comes to mind.

I've read on here that a lot if ex Barton members join lost creek as a nice alternative. I used to be a great hills member but that might be too far north . GH is an excellent course to improve your game. Greens are always pristine . When I was a member I played my best golf.

My brother-in-law is a member at Lost Creek. It's a challenging course from the tips with plenty of blind tee shots. I've played there 3 or 4 times and have never had a complaint about course conditions. Holes 12 and 13 drive me nuts as anything but absolute precision can absolutely wreck your round.

Pace of play has always been good on Saturdays. One thing I appreciate is seeing a lot of walking golfers on Saturday morning.

I would also commend the membership as a polite and interacting bunch. I've played with 8-10 other members and you will always find people from different groups saying hi to each other as they wind through the course.

Coming into Austin this weekend from Houston have tickets for UT football on Saturday and ClubCorp got me a 10:16 on Sunday at Lost Creek. Any suggestions?
