Was to play the Casino Del Sol course in Tucson with a client but it is closed. Where would you recommend for an afternoon tee time on a public track this Thursday . Was told the Star Pass Courses or El Conquistador. Would have like to play closer to the Casino where we are staying.
Thanks

I lived in Tucson for 6+ years and one of the bad things about Tucson is how spread out it is. Having said that Starr Pass is a very good course and is about 20 min from the casino. In addition to the ones you mentioned here are a few others I've enjoyed playing.
Downtown
I've always liked playing at the Randolph/Dell Urich courses, they are about 30 min from the casino. Back in the day they used to hold the PGA Tour's Tucson Open there and I think they used to have an LPGA event as well. But, if you're looking for a true desert golf experience then they wouldn't be the ones as they are right downtown and more of a parkland golf experience.
North
Omni Tucson National where they play a Champions Tour Cologuard Classic event is a very nice track with 2 courses and about 35 mins away. Quarry Pines is also not a bad place and is about 30 min away. It has a couple of quirky holes, including a long par 3 over a huge ravine where if your ball isn't on the green its about 100 ft down and gone! Crooked Tree is another one I've enjoyed playing and is about 40 min out.
South
San Ignacio and Torres Blancas are nice tracks that are about 35 min down the highway.
Tucson has a ton of great courses to play, but anything else is going to be 45 min+ from where you are. Just curious, why is Sewailo closed? That would have been and a great time.

Thanks for your info, much appreciated. Sewailo was aerating the greens so closed for the week. Ended up playing Star Pass as a "blended 18" where they pick the layout. It was great for me, in excellent shape, no one on it in the afternoon and perfect conditions (not too hot in my opinion). Plenty of deer wandering about. I would say there are forced carries on many of the holes we played. For Ladies or novice golfers that is an issue and the starter agreed that her ladies groups complain about it. I played rented clubs for the first time ever and received a new Taylor Made set that worked out well. Overall great experience.
