How fast you rotate & when

Has more of an impact on your swing than you'd think. I've been in a slight slump lately having issues getting slightly dumped under in transition and for the past couple days I've reverted back to 2 lessons ago with Dan where I actually worked on getting the club a little steeper by keeping the lead shoulder lower and more around for the first part of the transition.

Well I certainly improved my tilts in the past week and started hitting it better but not exactly where I wanted so I watched the lesson again and there was a piece where he talked about another way to think about this is the rate at which you rotate versus the rate at which you tilt. Today I took that to the range trying to feel lead shoulder low and around but feel it sooner and speed up how I feel like I'm rotating and it immediately got me right back on plane.

For those struggling with tilting too much or getting dumped under I think this is another great way to think about things.

Kuchhhh

I hear you brother. . .

Today, I was playing basketball. Missed my first three jump shots. Then, I began to think about whether my right elbow was too low or high as I was off the ground 2-3 inches during my jump. . .

I missed two more jump shots. I then began to consider if my grip pressure on the ball was too loose, or tight, or if my posture was too upright. Missed two more jump shots. A teammate told me my left hand was too rotated under my right when releasing the ball, and that my right shoulder was too low as I postured for my jump. . .

I just need to keep dissecting out this jump shot motion minutia until my positions are correct, then I will start making baskets again. Better yet, if I watch a few slow motion videos of Steph Curry tonight, maybe I can learn where all my body parts are supposed to be in 3D spaces . . .

Damn, then again, what Steph is doing is probably a 3D illusion, so I’ll need to consider getting a mirror and practice slow motion jump shots until I can transfer conscious thoughts into the subconscious. . .

I know, it sounds insane, but . . .

Back to the topic .....

I like the observation a lot Kuch....

Personally, keeping the left shoulder low in transition is a big help for me as well, but when I get off track I have to watch how I apply speed. Monte has said in his short game info to accelerate like a minivan not a ferrari, I have to have the same feel in my full swing. Rotating fast from the start of transition is a death move for me right now.

Curry told Sports Illustrated's Chris Ballard it was "the most frustrating summer."

Yeah sounds like it was a breeze.

Who said it was easy?

Nonetheless, if you are taking wide open jump shots one day, or shooting over 6 foot tall high schoolers, things change quickly in college.

How do you change? Change your focus. For example, set up a 6’10” barrier in front of Curry and I guarantee you he will make changes . . . pretty damn quickly.

Easy? Not for most, and I’m certain not for Steph.

Basketball player changes fundamentals from his natural motion to what is widely accepted as proper form... "it's easy just change your focus"

Golfer stuck under plane changes to more on plane. Again to what is widely accepted as proper form... " poor fool chasing down the rabbit hole again"

smh dude. The mental gymnastics, you should be a political journalist or something

Sounds like someone went down the rabbit hole
