MTB-X is long off the tee

I mentioned in the general golf forum about my drive today. 15 yards past a creek that I've never carried. I started gaming the Snell MTB-X this past week and it's long as heck off the tee for me. I'm teeing it up and fwd and really launching it. I'm seeing drives, honestly, 20+ yards longer than I've ever hit on our local holes. Been really working on my body and my swing mechanics and I'm sure that matters. But, this ball is long if you're able to put a good swing on it and hit near the sweet spot on the face. Very long. Kudos to Dean Snell on this ball...

I agree that it is long off the driver and I'm very satisfied in that regard. However, I'm finding that my irons are a club shorter than normal which I attribute to a higher spin. Perhaps my game would be better suited to the MTB Black which is lower compression rather than the X.

Yes, interesting. I'm coming from a nice relationship with the Snell XV. Love that ball, but it was even shorter with the approach shots. I literally had to remember to club up a whole club on approach shots. The Snell X is a very similar ball, but is better in this regard for me. It's not like the Black or Z-Star. Those seem longer with the short irons. I do think this is due to higher spin off the shorter clubs with these firmer balls. The XV is also long off the tee for me. What really surprised me with the Snell X is that it launches high with the driver, but doesn't seem to spin a lot. It goes up and just stays up, covering real estate. Once again yesterday I was playing the X and was very, very pleased with this ball playing a narrow, tree-lined course.
