First off, pretty good looking golf swing as a whole. Really like a lot of things happening in transition. I would first check out how your takeaway is looking. If you put the video in slow motion and pause it when your left arm is parallel (P3) you can see that the shaft is pointing way outside golf ball and the face has opened to some extent. You attempt to recover from this position by getting crossed up at the top a bit. I recommend getting that shaft to set more vertically where it points at golf ball or inside the ball. Try this drill for now:

Let me know, thanks!

I agree with Canuckgolfer. Takeaway is hurting you. Club is too flat which forces you to get steep in transition. You're a really good player, so you know you're steep and you end up dropping your rear shoulder and hanging back in transition, which gets you shallow... but, it's gonna f up your low point and make you stall your rotation and flip at the bottom. Bet you hit some blocks, thins, and hooks?

BTW, I totally get it, I've had/have this problem! Here's a cool Monte vid that addresses this:

Good luck! You have a really good swing!

thanks guys really appreciate it.

canuckgolf my misses are pull draws some verging on hooks but not snappy. pushes. tops. chunks like you said low point. and short irons i get scared of shanking them.

i hit longer clubs better than shorter clubs.

is it this position you want me to change

YOCV8T7AA2YB.jpgso the shaft is more vertical?

this was my swing yesterday.

https://youtu.be/_HtBJBfgYa0nearly all my misses were left as a pull draw.

my right low back was sore in extension which happens.

cheers

K9,

I was referring to left arm parallel so just a bit before that position that you referred to where your shaft is pointed well right of the ball. From this position you know you are kind of screwed so you compensate by getting the club across the line at the top of your backswing. I would be willing to bet that you really struggle with wedges because you would have to reroute the club so much with shorter backswings. Basically your move in your golf swing is flat to steep. We need to change that sequence to make it steep in the backswing to shallow in the downswing. I would get your shaft to work more vertical in the backswing and then look at downswing later. You may find that the backswing fix subconsciously changes your downswing sequence. Try that drill in the post I made earlier!

Cheers.

You've got all the info you need fatk9! You need to go and hit half-shots working on this stuff and make sure to film it cuz it's really hard to tell by feel at first. Also, make sure when you video stuff down the line that you take an old shaft or an alignment stick and use that as your hand line. The shaft/stick should be straight up and down in the viewfinder/iPhone/whatever camera you dig using. Your hands should be right above that stick when you film.
