One spot left in the bag, not sure what to do with it.

SO heres my current setup.

Driver: 270 carry club (prefer to cut but can work both ways)

Mizuno Fli Hi 2: 250 carry club off the tee (prefer to hit straight or draw)

7 wood: 230 carry club

5 iron: 205 carry club

6-PW

50, 55, 60

I can't justify a 3 wood really because I hit the damn Fli Hi so straight and far. I would never use it to gain a little bit of carry distance.

There is a gap between my 7 wood and 5 iron that I could maybe drop a 9 wood in?

Thats really the only thing that makes sense unless I wanna add another wedge but I'm not sure that would be too helpful.

You weaken your 5i to be a 200y club and then weaken all irons to match the 5y decrease and then add something versatile with 215y as a stock shot.

That’s what I’m leaning towards

i hit the 2 really well but not sure a 4 would do much for me

the 9 wood however would be interesting

I'm trying to wrap my brain around you having only a 20 yard gap between driver and 2 iron. Are you not getting enough out of driver? Or is the 2 iron just gargantuan?

I lean 4i but if you’re on soft turf regularly, I can see the value in a higher flight… though a Fli Hi launches plenty high 🥃

4 iron or 5H? 9 wood could go higher than you need at your kind of speed.

If it were me, I'd throw a lefty 7 iron back in my bag.  I know I can hit punch shots with it pretty consistently that once in a while comes in handy.  I paid like $5 for it over 10 years ago and it still sits in my closet because I have a full bag.  But if I had only 13 clubs and I wasn't sure what to add, the lefty 7 iron would go in until I figured it out.

Kind of depends on the courses and tees you play, but 230 to 205 is a pretty big gap esp at the top end where it’s more difficult to control distance. Like what are you hitting from 215-220? That’s a common enough distance where I’d want a full swing club I can confidently hit into greens.

Personally, I do not believe in building a bag or adding a club so you have "perfect" gapping or to fill a gap unless it's absolutely needed. Sure you have a 20 yard carry gap between your 7 wood and 2 iron and a 25 yard carry gap between your 5 iron and 7 wood, but before you fill the gap you need to ask yourself how often do you have a shot into a green at those distances?

If you do find yourself with a lot of shots between 200 and 240 (long par 3, 2nd shot on a long par 4, 2nd shot in to a par 5, teeball on short and/or tight par 4) then you may want to re-work the top end. Unfortunately, it is always more difficult to get the top end of the bag properly gapped due to the nature of the transition from irons in the woods/hybrids/utility clubs and you may just end up with some odd or less than ideal gaps. However, as I said...just because you have those gaps doesn't mean you need to do anything about it unless you really need too.

If you really do not need to fill those gaps, one option not mentioned is the mini driver. Mini drivers are far more easy to hit a controlled draw than a standard driver. Being that you prefer to hit a fade with the driver, adding a mini driver to hit draws on holes that call for a draw might be a good option. This is my setup and I love it. My driver carries about 270-280 with a cut and the mini carries 265 with a draw so they are not far apart. What is nice and adds a lot of confidence is that I swing them both the same. I do not have to make any adjustments at all....one fades and one draws....it's that simple. Just another option....

The lefty 7 iron is insurance.  I may be able to go for the green knowing that if I miss, I won't have to stand half in and half out of the bunker.

As a chess player, I was very good at messing with the thinking of my opponents.

I'm good at getting out of bunkers with one stroke.  Putting my ball in the bunker may encourage my opponent to do the same!

How often do  you see two good players repeat the exact same miss on their approach shots?

You are already a + handicap, just enjoy the lighter bag and play with 13!

I love the utility 4i and then strengthen the 7w to be more of a 6w. There is also the idea of a 46" bomber driver, but that is kinda crazy. That is only if you are determined to have 14 clubs.

I was thinking along the same lines. I don't think you'd get too much value from adding another wedge.

I'm partial to the idea of adding a 3-hybrid or 4-hybrid, just to add flexibility. I like to use my hybrid in situations where I feel like I might have to really go after an iron 100%. I often get better results choking up on the hybrid and swinging it smoothly.

I also like to keep a hybrid for some punch and run situations where a wood might be a little tougher to handle with the larger club head.

I only cut the driver pretty much so unless I’m just pouring the power fade all day I will inevitably over cut one and lose a bit of carry due to spin

i might carry it a touch further swing speed about 109 but the 2 iron is an absolute monster.

that’s basically my game plan I only cut the driver (can draw it but not a fan) and only hit the flihi straight or draw

i went in to buy a mini driver but honest the flihi is so much straighter I went with it
