I recently won 60 AAAA Srixon XVs and Xs off ebay. Just got them today and WOW I've never been so impressed. It might just be an isolated incident though bc I got 30 XVs which are all definitely 5A; all consistent color and shine with a few player markings but no logos. Definitely had the feel of a new ball and I'd have a hard time believing these were ever in the water. The Xs are more akin to 4A, not the same luster, some hit marks, and overall not that new feel but still no logos. Still, I'd still be happy if all the balls were 4A considering I paid less than $1 per ball after shipping. And even though I doubt the Pro V1x, my preferred ball, would ever be offered this low or at this condition, it would still be a wise investment over new.

Glad to hear you had a good experience with used balls. I have been buying used for a few years now, off eBay mostly. I have found some really good deals, you just have to keep your eyes open and be patient. I have bought some prov1x for around $1.50 a ball, mint, had to buy a few dozen to get that price.

I bought 3 dozen Pro V1x's from Woot for $12.99 each a while back and while I don't have a brand new sleeve of Pro V1x's to compare with, they're well worth <$15/dozen.

I've been using used balls for years and they work great. I don't see anyone having an advantage over me and good thing is I don't get excited if I loose a ball once in a while, like others that when they loose a five dollar ball it's a tragedy for them!!

i'm a big fan of buying recycled mint golf balls and have bought close to 20 doz in the last 2 years thru ebay..

i normally get the 4A's or 5A's of mostly B330-rx and have never been disappointed..

yesterday i found a PRO V1 in the rough with the markings "used and refinished by......."

it did look pretty good so i decided to try it for one hole--a 275 yard par 4--and hit a pretty good drive about 20 yards short of the green.

i then decided to hit one of my recycled B330-rx's and hit an equally good drive.....on the green!!

i did it again on the next hole--a longish par 5 with a fairly wide fairway--and really let it go on 2 drives and again there was about a 20 yard difference..

...no REFINISHED balls for me!!...

Well the rx is more built for slower swing speeds, that might explain some of the disparity in distance in your personal situation jmvargas (and I'm going to assume swing speed here and apologize if I'm wrong but I'm going off of the info on the 275 yard par 4).

....my driver ss is 95 and that's why i use the the RX's so ur assumption is correct eric..

but am still going to choose recycled over refinished anytime..

I agree that buying used balls in good condition is a great way to save some cash. Another bonus is that you can find a good mix of different balls to try and find what works best for you without paying premium prices
