I had posted on here about my vintage gamer set and had put on here about using my 1974 vintage Anser. Dan had stated I ought to use a 8802 style putter and after thinking on it I agreed. I do not have any Wilson 8802s but I have quite a few and different MacGregor versions after all I am a great Mac fan. Anyhow I selected a Nicklaus JN271 that I had. This is an all original putter down to the leather wrap grip. I purchased it at a local flea market a few years ago for $5. I practiced with it Saturday and figured out that you had to be on your ball striking game to putt with it but wow the feel and feedback. The main thing was the feel and it made me think about my stroke. I got it figured out on the putting green yesterday before walking and playing 18 with an all vintage set. I used to be a good putter but had declined some in the last few years. I had the best putting round in 3 years or so no gaggers but close on my lag putts and 3 feet in fantastic. No 3 putts on extremely fast greens and a couple of 4 foot par saves. I was stoked. Had a fantastic time paired up with an older gentleman and since I was playing persimmon I hit from the senior tees with him. Had a real good ball striking day also. Ended up shooting 79 on a par 72 course playing all vintage. By playing this setup I think I may have gotten my feel back. I also switched drivers since my last post. I switched to a Penna that I had for years and it does have a history of its own. It may be sorta modern as it was built in the 80s and has an Aldila HM40 shaft but I hit it straight about 230 or so. My playing partner remarked that I was a little long even with the persimmon to be playing the seniors on this course. I am thinking of keeping the set up with my modern woods when playing my usually weekly games because those guys will not let me hit from the seniors. Definetly the 271 stays. But thanks to all you folks on here you got me inspired to do it and I had a fantastic day
