Big News out of Nickent Golf!

Taken from PGA.com - found this very interesting! Enjoy

Over the past few years, Nickent Golf has established itself as a name player in the equipment industry, particularly on the hybrid club side with its 3DX ironwood line. Now the company has a name club designer.

John Hoeflich, the man who designed the original Tommy Armour 845 irons in 1988, has joined Nickent Golf as a senior vice president. Hoeflich, whose patents also are on the Titleist DCI irons and TaylorMade RAC irons, has most recently been senior director of product marketing for Taylor Made-adidas Golf.

Hoeflich's move from TMaG is a coup for Nickent and its president Michael Lee, who worked with the man many call "Hoefy" a decade ago at a small equipment company called HD Golf. At Nickent Golf, the duo of Hoeflich and Lee makes a formidable team that could take the company to the next level.

"I always felt that if Michael and I were to team up again, we'd do it a little bit better," Hoeflich told PGA.com. "This gives me to opportunity to do some things without the large corporate structures that sometimes keep you from doing what you really want to do."

On top of Hoeflich's agenda is creating a new generation of the 3DX ironwood line as well as two new Nickent iron lines. The new Nickent/Hoeflich products are expected to debut later this fall.

"Then we'll see where it takes us," Hoeflich said. "The biggest mistake you can make is do too many things at once and were not going to make that mistake."

Given Hoefy's history, mistakes are not an option.

Is it not possible though that another 40 golfers might have preferred a different club? Maybe even the Nickent? You have to take those tests with a grain of salt. In the end they don't mean a lot.

The fact that Nickent is the top hybrid on the Nationwide tour without having to pay for play says something about their product.

Anytime a small to mid level company such as Nickent can score someone with the resume of Hoeflich, is also a very good sign.

Sonartec may have been the best hybrid in the clubtest, but they're far from being the top hybrid on the market.........hell alot of big box stores dont even carry the Sonartec line.

I think they will be around for a couple of years and then fade away. I am afraid some of these other companies such as sonartec, tour edge, and yes are going to as well. Another big company is going to copy their designs that got them the recognition and customers are going to pick the big name over the innovator. Those are 3 of my favorite companies, the easiest to deal with and i think they have the best products out. Nickent has done really well with the hybrid because it is a really good club, but they still stuck around the $100 price tag. I just wish we had stocked the club when there was more buzz about the club. When you are in the position of putting a couple grand of a merchandise in your store, you hope you are spending it well and its not going to be on scholarship like some other past small companies.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
