Assume you see a nice new putter (with nice milling, finish, grip, etc.) that you fancy might become your new gamer -- how much would you be willing to pay for it?

Well, what I'd be willing to pay and what I'd be able/allowed to pay might be two different things. Under normal circumstances, I'd say up to $400, but if I received an unexpected bonus at work, I'd feel free to drop 2-3K or so on a tour Scotty.

 

Which I would probably never game...so I guess nevermind, up to $400 is my answer :drinks:

My gamer when it arrives will be a LEFTY 009..... I usually wouldn't spend over $300 on a gamer but since I've always wanted an 009 since first time I saw one and they will be coming out soon I had to have one.

 

Factors why spend that much..... I LOVE CAMERONS FIRST AND FOREMOST.... First time they are making the Lefty 009, we don't know the number of them made, I always wanted a tour putter, and got it at great price.

 

Wife wasn't happy.... leaving the room and not talking to me for 45 minutes but she got over it. I had to sell all my putters except current gamer and several headcovers but it will all be worth it!!!

Normally not over $250 for an OTR type putter.

 

Custom options and stamps etc. I am willing to pay more.

Typically $200-$300, but I did go above and beyond that price range for my Bettinardi.

The price for me is secondary. If it works that's all that matters. This is the most important club in MY bag, IMO. That being said $500 for a driver, $300 for a shaft, $800 for irons, $100 wedges, $40 for a dozen golf balls, $200 for a sack to carry them and a putter that WORKS, priceless.......

I would normally say around $200 was my limit. I have more valuable but right now that is the answer I tell my wife also. lol

i don't think i would limit it, but i don't think you need to spend more than $500 unless you're collecting. There are plenty of amazing putters for under 300, the fact that there is a circle T on it doesn't mean it will lower scores, even though it would be great to have.

Like most things, high prices give the impression of exclusivity. Lacoste Clothing uses this practice. They price above market value, which makes it more exclusive, and drives up demand. Risky, but they are reviving the company pretty well.

 

There are so many OEM putters right now that are awesome for under $300. My answer is $300, unless it is handmade such as TP Mills.

I buy all my equipment used and putters are no different. Just like cars I let someone else eat the depreciation and worry about the first scratch or chip in it. Then I use it for what it is for with no worries. I did buy my Scratch wedge new though. Buying used clubs and not spending so much on equipment allows me to go spend a weekend at Bandon Dunes. Including my bag I have about $600 total in it. I did find some of the clubs in the garbage, tis good to be a Garbageman.

Usually not more than $300. Unless its a total custom putter.

Very good point - if people are willing to spend $500 on a super duper driver, they should be willing to spend $1000 on a putter that will get used AT LEAST twice as much during any given round.

 

And of course I do understand that economics hinder us all in budgeting for that little flat stick.

for me it's less than $150.
