Southern Ca Rain... do you play?

Having recently read a guy whinning about not playing in the rain and getting charged for not canceling his tee time I thought I would check the charts and heres' what I found:

 

According to http://www.gilhooley.name/daily.htm we had 1.5 inches of rain from 2/14/07 - 2/26/07

with the most being almost 1/2" on 2/26

 

 

Personally I'm like the preist in Caddyshack and don't get off the course till the really hard stuff comes down... do you play in the rain?

First drop, I'm gone. Just kidding. The home course drains very well and unless both towels are soaking wet and there are inches of water on the greens, I'm out there playing. One thing about So Cal, or within the vicinity of greater LA, is there is no or virtually no thunder and lightning.

I live in SoCal and I DON'T play in the rain! Why would I??? We have like two rain days a year so why should I play in the rain? If I lived in a climate that had frequent rain I'd probably buy some rain gear and be out there, but not in SoCal. When I first started to play I did play in the rain. Not anymore. My clothes get soaked my bag gets soaked I have to take all my crap out and dry it all off to prevent mildew. I have to take my golf shoes and run em through the drier. Oh, yeah! I really want to have that hassle just so I can play Saturday and not Sunday.

I'd rather play in the rain than not play at all. I guess it's about how much you really want to play. I live in So Cal and the rain doesn't bother me one bit...unless it's a torrential down pour, but again, it's So Cal and that almost never happens. I have rain gear because I play all over the place and ya never know when your gonna get hit with the wet stuff so rain doesn't really bother me. I also enjoy the challenge of trying to conquer different conditions but overall I just enjoy the friends I get to play with so rain or shine we get out and have a good time.

 

P.S. (It's always fun to watch a friend step in a giant puddle and get soaked...makes for some great converstation in the club house afterwards while enjoying a good drink).

I will be out playing as long as the course isn't closed. It doesn't bother me if its windy or rainy...and for some reason I haven't purchased any rain gear (cool). When it rains here it seems to go for a few days straight and then won't rain again for like a week. It's actually raining right now but there's till some snow on the ground.

It really is a non-issue here in SoCal.

There just aren't enough rain days to matter.

I play in the rain BECAUSE its not even "rain" it might come down for 3-4 holes, So you park under a tree, walk out to your ball with a umbrella and a towel take your shot and repeat. It seems to rain for a hour or so followed by nice sunshine.

I was there in July 2005. Love your country! Played Killarney - Mahoney's Point Course, Killarney – Killeen Course, Waterville, Old Head, Ballybunion Old Course, Tralee & Lahinch – Old Course. The most beautiful courses I have ever played in my life and best of all, I got to enjoy it with my dad!

 

Rained sideways and about 20-30 mph winds. I loved it!

i have played torrey pines ( site of 08 US OPEN) in a rainstorm where the cup on the third hole was filled by the time we got to it. it felt like i was playing one of the British Open sites, if you are a true afficianado like 99.9% of us on this site you will play in inclement weather as long as its safe with no lightning. where else can you play shots with the wind and rain in your face. it can be a religious experience.

Played Torrey three weeks ago in our big rain storm of the year and it was so bad there were huge blisters on the fairways due to drainage problems! It was nice because I have good rain gear and you could play two balls if you chose to.
