Best place to practice

I am looking to preferably join a club with a nice practice facility. I have only lived in the DFW area for about 7 months and before joining the first club I was hoping ya'll could help. The course itself doesnt have to be a Dye or Timarron (for the club corp folks) I do not have an issue finding games or getting onto other courses to play I am really look for a place to put the ear phones in and practice.

The two places that I have heard most about are Brookhaven and TPC Craig Ranch.

Brookhaven has an awesome short game area, you can sit in one spot and hit to greens from 20-100 yards. Their practice greens are average, and the range sees a lot of action. But the main range is north facing, so the wind and sun aren't annoying. And their little executive course is a great place to practice.

Craig ranch is nice, has a solid range but the practice green and short game area are pretty standard.

The pricing between those two is pretty different, plus the driving distance.

Dallas Athletic Club has a good range and an unreal short game facility. It was built by/for SMU golf. Three different greens to hit into (Bermuda, bent, and not sure on the other) to recreate conditions where they will be competing. Multiple putting greens as well. Oh, and 2 really nice courses to boot. Very attractive price as well. Substantially more than Brookhaven and substantially less than tpc CR. One of my best friends just joined DAC and loves it.

I would also give the newly privatized Castle Hills a look. It used to be the home of a hank haney academy. I have heard good things about their practice facility. Good location as well from the standpoint of being central to north Dallas and Collin county.

I would second DAC. Been out a member for several years now, and think it is great. The practice facilities are truly first class (my opinion of course). Just to clarify, DAC has 5 putting greens (4 bent/1 Bermuda). There is also small chipping/bunker green near the south end of the 2-sided range. The short game area is near the north end of the range. It was designed by Chet Williams and built in conjunction with SMU. It consists of 2 putting greens (1 bent/1 Bermuda), 3 bent grass target greens with 2 pins each, and a variety of different bunkers. It is a very versatile design, allowing you to hit shots from about 100 yds and in, from a variety of different lies, angles, and wind directions. Recommend checking it out if it is convenient to you.
