5.9 handicap with home made swing, but have been playing for 20+ years.. Just looking for feedback.

I have been playing since I was 11. To clarify on home made, I have watched the PGA Tour and read Golf Digest as a means to correct my swing. Played most of my golf the summers of ages 13-16. Sporadically since. This year I have played the most golf since my teenage years with 12 rounds and counting.

 

Just looking for feedback and commentary. My miss is typically near the toe and ends up right of target. Not with much fade, mostly a pushed look. Anyway, never filmed the swing before and would love to hear what you guys see or don't see.

You stand up on it pretty significantly at impact because everything else has stalled.

You're a little upright going back but you could get away with it if you knew how to transition properly. Working away from the line, and not toward the ball in transition, gets you shallower and would load set the club more behind you so can accelerate closer to the ball. Presently you have no turning opportunity to add to the process because you are dropping too steeply toward the play line, and you therefore lose control of the toe.

Sometimes a change in perspective helps. When you toss the clubhead as you do essentially only 1/2 of the club is being used- the bottom half. Forget mechanics for a moment- what would you have to do from the top in order to get [u]all of the club[/u], all of it, through the ball [i]at the same moment[/i] in time.

Some of this depends on how you see the process overall, and how it [i]unfolds[/i] literally, as there are more recipes for apple pie than apple varieties.

I am not the biggest drill fan, but you may want to try sticking one of your alignment sticks perfectly vertical into the ground about 6-8 inches outside your trail foot about even with, and on the same line as, the big knuckle of the trail foot baby toe. It should look like a very tight and narrow gateway tower posing an impossible task.

The club will go outside the stick going back obviously, and inside the stick going back the other way. It's a narrow passage and the task of going through it will cause some interesting processes and feels that may be new to you.

Sometimes this best way to find swing flaws is to look at flaws in trajectory; after all, the point of a good swing is to consistently produce good shots. Just my opinion...

Judging by what appears to be an early release, you may have trouble hitting the short irons low and controlling the trajectory (but this could be a product of the lens creating the appearance of an early release). If this is the case, I'd happy to recommend some drills to help!

Also, it looks as if you create too much hip rotation, especially early on in the swing. This could decrease your "coil/xfactor" effect and inhibit power.
