RomaRo Ray V Type R

First off I have never owned a true JDM club. So I am not at all knowledgable on them. Currently play B'stones J40 DPC w Recoil 95.

That said the RomaRo Type R look like a club I might enjoy needing more distance and all. Main question is how would these compare to the J40 DPC as far as feel and forgiveness?

Also would they take a .355 taper tip or a .370 parallel shaft? I like the idea of a Recoil, Steelfiber or possibly a C Taper Lite.

Any info from those that are knowledgable on JDM would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure what lofts you are playing, but most JDM non blades irons have stronger lofts, possibly half a club stronger. That's where most of the extra distance comes from. These irons you are looking at should be fairly similar to the DPC in terms of forgiveness and playability. The quality of Romaro is great.

Those RomaRo's are more forgiving and feel way better IMO. Haven't owned the j40s but have hit them, really enjoyed the romaro set I owned and found them more forgiving. they would be similar in length (given same loft). Had recoil 110 Proto f3 hard stepped in my RomaRo set and it was a great fit. Flex similar to the old project x 5.5s I liked. The j40s I hit had recoil 95s so possibly not a super fair comparison. Go w the type r's, pretty sure you will love them, I did and haven't heard any complaints about them...

I currently play RomaRo Type Rs, and I believe these irons are far more forgiving than the J40 DPCs. I did not play the DPCs but did demo them quite a bit before I purchased my Type Rs (along with many other irons.....) My top two choices at the end were 2013 OnOff forged and the Type Rs.
These irons are not stupid long like some true game improvement irons, but they are consistent, forgiving, has great turf interaction for my swing and look pretty good as a bonus.

I have recoil proto 110s in my clubs. My club builder had no problems installing the shafts.

hi.
i have the RomaRo Ray V (4-pw) with recoil proto 110 f4 in them. i believe the biggest difference between my set and the type R is the offset. from ehat i have read RomaRo has always catered to the better player and the typeR line of clubs is supposed to be more of a "club for the masses" kind of line up. o find them incredibly accurate and easy to hit but verging on traveling "too long" if thats a thing?
the first time i played them, i kept getting excited that i came down on the pin and then finding my ball directly in line, but 15yds long.
the head weight is very very consistant and makes for an easy build without much variance in tip weight.
the set of proto pulls i had came out to a D3 swingweight without adding extra weight to the tip, however, o believe there was a bit of weight in the tip of the shafts from the last set they were installed in... it just happened that it was the ideal amount to make a D3 set, so i only used epoxy and no lead.
i have the j40cb as well and find them much easier to hit consistantly even though the head is smaller and offset is similar. in fact the smaller head size and limited offset are my favorite things about them.
think of them like a shrunk down titleist ap2 with more technology in materials, a more forgiving sole(due to the v groove) and better feel.
but obviously everything is shrunk down. including sole width, toe height, topline width,..etc

i think you will like them alot as long as you like a smaller headed iron. the sweet spot is still very large (especially on the toe) and they travel quite far without swinging very hard.(due to boosted lofts plus a hot face made from another type of steel)
