Carlton Woods

A customer of mine has been asking me to play a round at his club since August. I haven't been able to make it out until now so we're scheduled to play Carlton Woods in the Woodlands outside Houston tomorrow. Stinks that I waited until temps got below 50 to take him up on the offer but I'm still pumped.

This will be my first round at anywhere near this nice. Any advice for those Houston WRXers that have played there? How much do I need to carry in tip money? Assuming 5s for everyone that does something for me except for the caddie? I tend to get friendly with most folks I meet. Cool to get chatty with the caddie or is he too busy tracking our shots? Any big no nos regarding clubhouse or restaurant?

I know this post is old but I used to be a member and thought I would throw in some FYI about the club.

Tip the caddie what you feel is reasonable. But I would say $25 bare minimum each. Keep in mind your host has to pay ~$100/each + cart fees, food, drinks, etc to get you on there as a guest with him. Don't get cheap with the caddie tip when your host just dished out $450+ to get you in there. It's embarrassing to the host if you open your wallet and go "All I got is a $10".

The club has a no tipping policy. You don't tip valet or anyone else other than the caddie. The members all pay a year end bonus that goes in a pool and is split between the service members for Christmas. That's their "tip" money.

Only no-no is don't dress like a slob, throw clubs, act like an idiot (backwards hat, untucked shirt, etc). Use basic etiquette and commons sense like you would anywhere else. And don't change your shoes in the parking lot sitting on your truck tailgate or outside your car door. They do highly frown on that. Do it inside your car or in the locker room.

The snack bar on #9 at Fazio has killer hot dogs. I would tear them up and rack up a huge bill just on hot dogs alone. LOL. I liked that place. Great people and great courses.

Enjoy.

Basically, sounds like the club is filled with a bunch of these

[attachment=2752920:Judge Smails.jpg]

and you better not dress like this

[attachment=2752922:Happy Gilmore.jpg]

or act like this

[attachment=2752924:Al Czervik.jpg]

or this

[attachment=2752926:Judge Smails Throwing.jpg]

or you'll not be welcomed. Wondering if they have any of this

If so, where do I sign up?

Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't - I wouldn't know....the time I got to play it I didn't see anyone else there to make such a judgement.

I have seen some of each of those at your place Snagy :)

      Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
