Vega VM-02 vs Fourteen FH1000 (forgiving blades)

Just thought I would do a brief review/comparison between Vega VM-02 and FH1000 incase if anyone was interested.

I think VM-02 and FH1000 are two of the most forgiving blade irons out in the market so I thought it would be a good comparison.

This review might seem little bias towards Vega VM-02 which is my current gamer however, my previous gamer was Fourteen FH1000 and there is a reason why I decided the sell the Fourteen FH1000 after trying the Vega VM-02.

I had both sets for about a month or so. Both iron sets had Project X Pxi 6.0 Shaft so I would say it's pretty fair comprison.

First of all, I got to tell you that Vega VM-02 blades are AMAZING. First of all, the craftmanship on these irons are highest quality. They are very unique, clean and sharp looking blades with tri-grind. As for FH1000, they are very clean looking with classic look and I love the feather logo but not as sharp looking as VM-02. As for quality, you can definatly sense that VM-02 is better.

Head size on both irons are about the same. Both heads are little larger than most blade irons. When looking from the top down, VM-02 had thinner/sharper topline which can look intimidating for some people but some may prefer that. VM-02 is slightly longer from heel to toe. When I say "slight" I really mean slight/very little.

As for the sole, VM-02 is tad wider in the center of the sole and it tapers out while FH1000 is constant.

As mentioned, I know that FH1000 is a very forgiving blade and it maybe one of the most forgiving blades in the market but I feel VM-02 is just as forgiving. I think they are both neck to neck in terms of forgiveness. On both clubs, even on a miss hit, distance is not punished and much as other blades but you can definatly feel that you miss hit the ball. On VM-02, I think forgiveness comes from slightly wider sole and bigger head than normal blade. On FH1000, I think forgiveness comes from thicker top half of the face when compared to other blades.

As far as the feel goes, VM-02 definately feels softer, dense and pure. It's one great feeling!!! On the other hand, FH1000 is not as soft but feels very clean and solid on impact. I prefer soft and pure feel personally.

At end of the day, I think I made a very good switch and extremely satisfied with my Vega VM-02 Irons.

All mentioned above are my OWN PERSONAL OPINION AND FEEL.

JS, as always, nice write up and review. Glad you posted this. Considering both, as well as the Scratch SB1's. You have shed some fantastic light. You wouldn't happen to know anywhere down here that carries the Vega VM02 would you?? I've been to several shops in Orange County. Anyone up north got a shop that carries Vega?

I live near by but NOT OC. Probably 20 min drive from there. If you want PM me, we can meet up at local range near my house in the evening and you can try out my VM-02. Unfortunately, I already sold my FH1000 so you really can't compare the two.

.355 My current gamer is VM-02 Satin and no difference in tip size between VM-02 Satin and Raw. Same goes with other Vega Irons between Satin and Raw. Most current Vega Irons are .355 (VM-01,VM-02, VC-01, VDC-01 100% Sure on these). The older versions are .370

[/quote]i think forgiveness on fh1000 comes from placing cog in center of the face instead of nearer to the hosel like most mb irons.....Seeing how most misses are out towards toe for most golfers it makes sense that these would be slightly more forgiving.....in case of vega it's probably the width of sole though havnt seen these yet but that too would make sense....
