Decided on VG3s...Is the Shaft the Right Choice?

Was expecting to go graphite but steel felt great. I opted for the NS Pro 850GH in regular but am wondering if it will be too flexible.

I did hit the 950 stiff and it felt fine with the VG3 heads (they are really soft and smooth) but my 7-iron distance has always been between 135-140 yards with Ping ISI steel heads, DG 300r so I don't really 'go after' the ball. And I appreciate getting some shaft 'kick' to do some of the work.

The fitter was great but there was a bit of a language barrier. He did suggest steel vs graphite and I agreed after hitting a lot of balls. He just didn't have the 850 shaft available in the VG3 head so he recommended it based on my swing/transition, etc. although I hit another head with that shaft and it felt great.

So the question...would I be better off with the NS Pro 950GH in regular instead? Is there a great deal of difference in ball flight/playability between the 850/950 both in regular?

I pay for them tomorrow (Monday Tokyo time) so any informed opinions welcome.

Thanks.

Just don't know much about shafts. I'm feeling confident because I've always played regular even when younger and lighter can't hurt these days with shoulder injury, etc. What really sold me was the soft but powerful feel of the heads. I've hit all the major brands and this felt as good as anything out there, not that I'm an expert. Now I must figure out wedges to go with the strong-lofted PW. I would have bought the wedges that come with the VG3E but in the end those heads were just too big.

Have heard that. Going to US for two weeks then back to Tokyo. Will look into it when I get back. So many great wedges in Japan. The interesting part will be getting the lofts correct. I could end up with an all-JDM bag made by American companies : )

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
