Clicgear 6.0 - experience and/or opinions

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I'm in the market for a new buggy to cart my clubs around on (no pun intended...). I have in mind either a Clicgear 3.5+ or a Clicgear 6.0, the 'resort model', which I've taken a fancy to.

In Australia it is not widely available, the 6.0, and I have the opportunity to buy one for 2/3 the price of a 3.5+. Both of those aspects I'm drawn to. I know the 3.5+ is the model with more features and probably more user friendly, but I don't really need and would not miss all the bells and whistles of the 3.5+ over a simpler model.

So! Has anyone used or played around with the 6.0? I'm after a little firsthand knowledge from those who has seen, touched or used one, specifically regarding the build quality and sturdiness of them (ie wheels that are detachable and the screw-on handle could wear more easily than the 3.5* etc).

Many thanks for your insights! I know the 3.5+ may ultimately be worth the extra $$ but I like the 6.0!! It looks cool and everyone has a 3.5+...my only concern is it's longer term durability.

I have tried the clicgear 3.5, 8.0 and 6.0. No cart is perfect and they all have their strengths and weaknesses. Here are my experiences. For positives, the 3.5 is easy push and easy to maneuver. The drawbacks of the 3.5 are stability (it is sturdy but the 8.0 seems much more stable in wind) and the angle of the bag on a 3.5 makes it a pain to get somes clubs in and out. Also the strap that holds the bag on the 3.5 sometimes constricts clubs being put in and out of the bag. The 8.0 rolls very easily and seems very stable in wind. The angle of the bag is a little higher so club access is a little better. The drawbacks of the 8.0 are the the cart isn't easy to maneuver on sharp turns. Also the 8.0 bag strap still constricts the bag sometimes. The 6.0 is a two wheeler. The clubs sit upright and are easily accessible and I had no bag restriction from the strap. The bag can be pulled or pushed. It is very easy to maneuver. The drawbacks of the 6.0 are that it requires more force to move than the 3.5 or the 8.0. Due to the two wheel design, you have to hold the 6.0 much tighter and push down with more force than the 3.5 and the 8.0. For example, I can push or roll the 3.5 and 8.0 with one finger. There is no way to do that with the 6.0.

For me, I didn't like the 6.0 because I like to walk relaxed and need a cart that did not required a firm grip with holding force while walking. As for the 3.5 and 8.0, I chose the 3.5 only because I just felt weird with a cart having 4 wheels. I didn't feel comfortable with the 8.0 because of my weird? personal preference. I decided that I could deal with the issues of the 3.5 because it is easy to push and maneuver and I didn't feel weird pushing a cart with 3 wheels. I bought a flat top bag so club access is better. But the strap constriction problem is still there.

Carts are like everything else. They boil down to personal preference. I hope this helps.

Brilliant! Thanks very much Riis11!
Just a couple of Q's for you re the 6.0:

1/ is it a good build quality, particularly the wheels and handle attachments; I could see them becoming weak over time.

2/ how stable is it? Being so upright, and with the pints of contact with the ground so close together, would a bit of uneven ground or stiff breeze put it in danger if topping over?

Thank you again for the rundown on all three, it is very helpful :) I'm 50/50 on the 6.0, the reason for the questions being I'd need to pick it up without playing around with it first.

Great post, thanks.

I was also inquiring a while back and got no feedback, so its nice to hear your thoughts. I like the idea of the 6.0, but also curious if it feels stable while upright? It has an attachment for an umbrella but I'm guessing that it would be tough to keep it upright in any kind of wind as well.

As you know Clicgear makes quality products.

1. The build quality of the 6.0 is very good. The metal tube is oversized and feels like thick aluminum. The bag connector adusts up and down on the main tube and the adjustment mechansim seemed to be fairly sturdy. It could become loose over time but I don't think it would. The wheels are study and big. They could stand alot of abuse. I actually dropped my 6.0 pulling it out of the back of my car. It landed on the wheel and fell over. Nothing was broken and it worked fine. It is sturdy.

2. You make a good point about stability. The 6.0 stands very erect which I liked for access to the clubs in the bag. I live in Colorado and the wind can blow very hard off the mountains. The 6.0 never tipped for me even in very strong wind. The wheels are very big and they make it hard to tip over. I did find that the 6.0 had an issue on uneven ground. On steeper side hills, the 6.0 was a little unstable and prone to tipping. Up and down hills needed attention but the 6.0 typically stayed in place if you placed it right. I just had problems with the cart on side hills. It didn't tip over but it almost did a couple of times.

I liked the 6.0. I really like the bag being upright. It is stable but it needs some attention when using it.

I'm also curious as to the bag straps being a restriction; how does that come into play if they are wrapping around the bag??
[/quote]

The Clicgear carts have a stretchy rubbery bungee type strap that isn't really adjustable up or down on the 3.5 or 8.0. The strap is adjustable up and down on the 6.0 which is great. I found that on the 3.5 and 8.0 the strap doesn't go across the rigid top part of my bag. I use a Sun Mountain Sync bag. The strap is positioned just below the rigid top of the bag on the softer less rigid part of the bag and squeezes down on that portion of the bag so the clubs can get hung up due to the strap constricting the bag. This happens on the top portion of the bag where the strap squeezes down.

I never used and umbrella on the 6.0. As I said earlier, the 6.0 is pretty stable even in heavy wind (without an umbrella). I just had problems on steeper side hill lies.

Good information on this post. One of the courses I play has fairways that are quite bumpy and the terrain is generally rough. I have some problems using my 3.0 cart because of the roughness of the course. Because of this I resort to carrying when I play there. It's not a big deal to carry but the wheel size on the 6.0 makes me think it would handle the rough terrain better than my 3.0. For those of you who have used the 6.0 - do you think the 6.0 would handle rough terrain better than a 3.0?

In my opinion all clicgear carts could handle any terrain you throw at them. I haven't found that the wheel size matters with reference to terrain. From what I can tell when using the 6.0, the larger wheels are for stability when the 6.0 is standing or being pulled. Since there are only two wheels, the large wheels prevent the cart from tipping over on side hills or otherwise.

Thanks for all the info on the 6.0. Curious how easily does it pack into your car? Easier than 3.5+?
