Game Golf worth it???

Recommended Posts

So I was looking into a tracking software for the main reason to see where I'm losing strokes and see what I need to work on. I saw Game Golf and while I was able to see some of the reviews on the course and some of the general software functions but wasnt able to tell much about it. Has anybody had any experience with it and can tell me if it is worth it as a stat tracking software? I would really like something to help see which clubs im hitting close to pin and which ones im not. I don't really need it for distances or the basic functions, but I would like to see if its something to help keep you improving or just another golf gadget. Thanks!

There's a whole 42 page thread on this device in the forum. It is the GPS/Range Finders/Mobile Apps forum.

It can't really tell you how close you are hitting it to the pin because I doesn't know where the pin is, only where the last putt was from. it can tell if you hit the green/fairway and which side you favor and if you shot pattern is left, right, short, long. its a fairly accurate system and easy to use. The problem I had with it is I kept forgetting to buzz a club in or forgot that I had and double buzz all this made for a long "edit" session before I could post a round. You can save many rounds on the device before downloading them, however if you wait too long you forget the detail you need for the edit which effects the accuracy of the data which is the whole point. After about 5 rounds I sold the device, while I found the information valuable it just wasn't for me.

I had one for about 2 months. I really didn't see the use in it as it had as many errors as correct tags. After the round I would spend ~15 minutes correcting bad tags, and tags I forgot to do. In the end, I just couldn't justify the effort of tagging each club and the time spent after correcting those tags.

I have used it for 6 rounds now. I do forget to tag sometimes, but I do upload and edit the round when I get home to my laptop then 'sign' the round to get my stats updated. Adding or correcting a few tags does take a little time, but like most things in life, you are rewarded for effort and patience. Once signed, I do like to go over the round as it shows a visual of each shot, so I can see where I am missing on which holes.

There is an Insights section which shows you how close to the pin you got on Approach shots, and than can be done by distance; lie type and for each round or multiple rounds (last 3, 5, 10, 15, All). Also Off The Tee analysis.

I think I need to collect more data for it to be really useful, but it is useful right now (& pretty) with the small amount of data I have in it at them moment, and their customer service I have found to be awesome (a GG support guy names Francois is very, very helpful).

It is being improved all the time with additional features. All in all, I would defiantly recommend it as it is good now and I think it will get even better over time the more data I put in and the more the software improves.

The novelty wore off after about a dozen rounds. It's a useful tool, but limited after a period of time as far as usefulness re: new information.

I used it to get a better idea of my distances with each iron, and I have that now. Unless I change irons or swings, etc., I think for now it stays at home. It is easy to use and you get into the habit pretty quickly of beeping in before each shot and if you miss one, you can edit it pretty easily after the round.

For the golfer that wants to track every shot of every round all year, this thing is great.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
