Golf Melt downs

so i am playing with my friend who was probably a +3 at the time...and we are in a cart....so he is not having a very good day and is maybe 2 over...but on the ninth hole he missed a short putt and finally snaps...he picks up his ball and throws it...then snaps his putter over his leg....THEN he walks to the cart and picks up his phone out of the cubby hole thing and proceeds to spike it on the ground as it shatters into 1000 pieces....

 

haha i didnt know what to do and tried to make it so he couldnt see me laugh...needless to say we finished and he went to practice for probably 2 hours....

What did the innocent phone have to do with it? :drinks:

 

well it was in the cart out in the open and when ppl get mad they throw things....haha it was hilarious though...

I've gotten pretty heated outside of golf, have a fresh pair of plates and ten screws in my left hand to show for it, but on the course the worst I've gotten has been from after hitting a less than stellar bunker shot going to smack the sand out of my spikes with the club and instead of hitting dead on the clubhead get a little bit of shaft and the hard sole of the FootJoy Classics takes over. Result a snapped Dynamic Gold PW shaft, and a snapped Project X from a RAC 58*...funny neither of which was the same after the fact.

The worst that I did was in a tournament while I was in the midst of a very poor putting streak.

 

It was a 2 man matchplay event and my putting woes continued on the first 4 holes. On the 5th hole a shortish par 5, I hit a good drive, a decent layup to leave me a SW in, which I hit to about 15ft.

 

I then hit my putt to about 6 inchs short of the hole and while I walk up to it I got madder and madder and rather than tapping it in I tooka full one handed swing and slapped it across the green and into a hazard. At that point I remembered that they hadn't conceeded the putt.

 

My partner made a 12 footer to cover my a**, but I sure was embarressed!

I've seen some very bazzar "MELT DOWNS OVER THE YEARS", but my major life turning melt down occurred about ten years ago. To make the story short I should not have played that day, issues at work and a new baby and I was just gong through the motions. I was +1 thru #7 w/ a thee putt, not bad, but it was work. I hit a skyed tee shot and was left w/ over 200 out and just pushed the shot into the trees, big deal right! been there before and will be there again, not with that 5 wood. In one motion I turned and made my best swing of the day and sawed off all three of my woods. I procced to pick up the pieces, put the heads back into the bag, chip out of the trees, made par and finished with a bogey on nine, excussed myself for the rest of the round, went home and reshafted my woods, showed up at 7:20 for my Sunday tee time w/ the same group and got my b!$&s broke for the next couple of weeks, very well deserved. I still laugh at that day, but I have never looked at golf as being that serious again. I enjoy the game so much more now. Great personal lesson, but my buds still bring that up at least twice a year. :D
