Connecticut golf?

Will be in Stamford for labor day weekend. I was considering going to Lost lake at Foxwoods, but that's a bit further than I want to travel.

Someone here mentioned Oxford Greens.

Any recommendations?

If you want to stay around Stamford, check out Sterling Farms, Richter Park in Danbury or Pound Ridge right over the border in NY. Don't play Pound Ridge without your A game though.

Just played Pound Ridge today, wasn't terribly impressed with the condition of the course. Divots everywhere on many fairways, greens were overwatered and inconsistent. Tough layout, tight fairways, it feels like a bigger course that has been stuffed into a small area. Driving range uses limited distance balls off lousy mats. For the money I expected more. Oxford Greens is a better value, has a similar feel, but more room to stretch its legs. Richter park is another good option, as well as Great River (pricey). Never played Sterling Farms.

I played Oxford last weekend, Good track and they are maintaining it better this year. Only issue is the 5+ hours rounds - they have rangers but don't seem to be effective.

Well, we hit up Sterling Farms yesterday.

Despite the four morons ahead of us that made it a 5 hr round (hey, it's the weekend), i had a wonderful time. Great course that winds up and down the hills. Very challenging. Reminded me of my home course on Long Island, Smithtown Landing GC.
Also, some of the fastest greens in the Northeast!!

I will be back, during the week of course.

Also, we stopped at the Rye Roadhouse for dinner. Fantastic Cajun food! Liked the fried pickles alot!
