Suggestions for format of small gathering with wide range of skills?

I'm trying to organize a 1-day "tournament" for a group of guys. It's a gathering of guys on a non-golf message board. Most of these guys have never played together, and the skill set is very wide.

 

I am guessing we will have 12-25 guys show up. A couple of guys might be able to break 80 consistently. A few guys will average in the 80s, and several guys will probably struggle to break 100.

 

They did this gathering for 3 years, but haven't done it at all in the last 4. Now I volunteered to resurrect it. In the past, it was always a 2-man scramble - bring your own partner. That lead to a couple of guys being better than the others and winning pretty easily. I don't really have a problem with that, but I am looking for any way to make it fun for everyone.

 

We already have "trophies" with the winners name from the first 3 years, so we will likely keep this format.

 

If we keep the 2-man scramble format, does anyone have suggestions for other things I can do to make it fun for everyone? I have a couple of small prizes I would like to give away, but would prefer to come up with some fun way to "win" the prizes, not just a door prize. I would also like to come up with some sort of embarrassing award. Nothing harsh, but just something to joke about until next year. I don't really want to give it to the team that shoots the worst score, but I don't know what else could be done.

you should have a prize giveway for a long drive contest before the event begins at the driving range.

 

just make sure you replace the ball with a marshmallow and be prepared for some fun.

 

one shot per person with their driver, long mellow wins , everybody has a chance lol !

 

I did this for a tourney and it was fun and everybody loved it , no entry fee required .

 

Just make sure to have enough mellows .

 

highest score card gets a prize for golfers bringing up the rear .

 

You could do a 2 man scramble and put names in a hat and draw partners .
