Does an expensive putter really make a difference?

The Bullseye doesn't work for everyone. They certainly don't work well for me so a Scottsdale Anser style putter, which does work well for me, beats the Bullseye ever time. At least as far as my game is concerned.

number_7 is right when he tells you to talk to someone knowledgeable and to try many different putters several times.

Get a well made putter that is suited to your game with specifications that fit you and you will putt as well as your skills allow.

I apologize for sounding a little ignorant

For me, the bullseye works the best because I am the most comfortable with the flatter lie angle
I also have a ping piper that is too upright for me and consequently I miss alot of short putts

I think the most important thing with putters is to have one that fits your stroke, wether it be a $500 cameron or a $20 dunlop

How do you think that Ping Piper would work for you if the lie angle were adjusted properly?

I went to the TaylorMade Matt Center about a year ago.

After a lengthy computerized analysis of my swing with my driver, a 5 iron and a wedge, it was time to move on to the putter.

It was priceless.

I have a 10 year old Odyssey, that is definitely worse for wear. It is essentially the only putter that I have used over the past decade (although I have occasionally caved and made impulse purchases of putters that never got played more than a single round---in fact, I have a Sizemore arriving any day, and I am hopeful that it will be the replacement putter as I feel that I need something a bit heavier to putt better under pressure).

The technician explained, at great length, about MOI and roll, and how there has been a dramatic improvement over the years. He had me putt with my Odyssey, a Cameron and a TM putter, and they were all captured by the computer and the monitor.

With respect to MOI, there was no comparison as my old Odyssey was the worst, the TM was the best and the Cameron was somewhere inbetween----he said that he always enjoys showing people how poorly the Cameron rolls.

However, there was one problem...I love my Odyssey, and I proceeded to drain about 10 20 footers in a row, Moi or no moi.

The TM technician wasn't very happy with me.

Nope- not a jot of difference.

So long as the putter fits you physically and fits your eye there is no reason you shouldn't putt any worse than with a $2000 putter.

Get a Ping fitted to you. Job done and any issues go see a pro for a putting lesson. Now that is money well spent.

probably just as good but I don't know how to bend the lie angle with a bent neck putter
