Skypro question

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but figure it was equipment. Sorry if it isn't in the right spot.

Has anyone used the Skypro at all? If so is it worth it? Does it actually help?

I've been looking at getting one, but of course I'm very skeptical of anything that analyzes swings with a sensor and want to make sure if I make the purchase it will actually work and help out.

Thanks

I had one when they first came out.

The novelty soon wore off.

It felt accurate and recorded most swings. Since then my game has fell away and I'm climbing up the handicaps, I've been tempted to buy one again.

It's great to use if there's no one present to video your swing. Also was a fan of the groove mode for when you are working on a specific part of your swing.

It can be a good addition to tuition but not great for trying to fix your own swing faults. Ie: it can tell you that your swing comes too much from the inside but not why or what move you may be doing to cause it.

Another example could be that it tells you that your club face it too open, so you try to force it closed, when it reality it was a ball position issue.

Hope that makes sense?

Yes this is a huge help. That is why I'm afraid of with getting the device. I've seen to often, even using swing monitors indoors, that what shows up on the computer is not always what happens "real world".

Would you consider some of the basic measurements to be accurate though, such as swing speed, tempo, transition, etc? I would primarily use the device to monitor and record that info. It would be great to know if it can accurately tell you, your tempo and so forth. I think that would be helpful in future club purchases.

Also is the newer device any different? I know it adds a few new measurements, but was wondering if it is any more accurate or refined.

thanks for the input. Much appreciated.

Don't know about the newer devices, the one I had was good for tempo.

The swing speed was a few mph different than indoor launch monitors. However, that doesn't mean it was wrong - the indoor one could be wrong.

I primarily used the device as i fight an overswing. With no one there to video, this device was perfect for letting me know how long it got.

You can play a game, set your tolerance to 2/3 degrees etc and try get 5 swings in a row of your desired length. If you hit your required length, your phone makes a ding. You can review any of the swings at anytime.

I also found it very useful for instant feedback on takeaway. I was working on getting the club on a much better takeaway plane - could select grove mode and once again my phone would ding if I hit the proper position. No need for video ... Just keep making half swings and listening for the ding to prove I'm getting on a better plane

Why did you get rid of it?

This sounds useful and is mostly what I would be using it for..

Monster Skypro thread here http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/topic/781743-skypro-really-impressive/ with plenty of positives from users of which I am one.

Groove mode is brilliant for having something checking you are actually doing what you think your doing.

Swing analyser market is ever evolving and the latest version of the. Zepp looks like a strong competitor to Skypro with even better self help attributes.

Thanks. I actually first took interest in Zepp but thought it wouldn't do good with measuring the club because it sits on your hand. I think it would be most accurate at telling you where your hands are and what they are doing.

I have both (plus Swingbyte 2). Zepp gets used most often, due to its convenience (keeping the other two clamped on straight is a pain, and they're distracting to me on the club).

Zepp is on the back of your left hand, which has a fairly solid connection to the club in a good grip. It's nearly unnoticeable (by you or others) and you can leave it on during a practice round. It helped me cure an OTT move.

That said, SkyPro is great for putting analysis.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
