Sellingers fitting

Got a fitting booked for next Wednesday (11-2-16). My fitter is Aarik Greenley. I told them I liked my MP-H5 4 and 5 iron / MP-5 6 thru P combo heads. I'm just trying to see what shaft will get me the best numbers and feel. I hear good things about their build quality so I feel good about having my clubs being spot on as far as length,lie,loft, etc. I'm also going to get my current driver optimized. Now I realize that I may not be doing this the 100% correct way. By that I mean there probably is some iron that may go a little higher, straighter, and farther than my current heads. But I really like this setup and have already played it enough to know that I can play pretty well with it. What's you guys thoughts on this?

Listen to what they tell you. I went into mine convinced that I wanted a new set of Pings. Walked out of there with a new set of Srixon Z745's... which I absolutely loved until they were stolen out of my trunk. Those guys are really really good at what they do.

Leonard.....did you do a full bag fitting or just irons?

I've now been to the two top 100 rated fitters in Indiana, both with different views. The first person I went to is older, well known on the west coast. The other is younger and is not as well known, and just received his rating. I went to club fitter #1 around the middle of July this past summer. I wanted to get fitted for irons. I got there and after seeing me swing the first thing he did was go through my whole bag, hit driver etc. He took tons of notes and logged everything on flight scope. Then after hitting my driver he took that away, cut it down, and upped the swing weight. I hit it more, and then he took my 6 iron and threw lead tape on it to put it at D2. I hit more golf balls and we talked etc. I told him that I am in the game for improvement and not to buy clubs to crutch my swing. So, he set me straight. He told me to scour eBay for used mp4 or mp5 heads, and work on my swing for a couple months. He said with my ss (107-110) he would like to see me in X-Flex, but my swing was just a tad too long and I wasn't getting the load he thought I could...The next two hours of the fitting was a lesson and I went to see him about once every 2 weeks for the next 2 months. After feeling like I was just conned into paying for lessons, I went to see fitter #2. This was last week, and at this time I was playing my mp-4's I bought off of here with KBS tour 120's. He quickly got me into C-Taper 130X, but tried selling me into some JPX-900's because he said my SS left distance on the table because my smash factor was around 1.42 with the MP4...So I was pretty disappointed that as a fitter he didn't understand my true desire to get better at the game and play something harder to hit to discipline my swing. I attribute this to his younger age, he was around 30 or 40, while fitter #1 is well into his high 60's or 70's. The younger guy was clearly into getting the most out of the modern equipment and I wasn't a fan of that. I want to make the improvement myself, and not worry about relying on the equipment to fix my contact issue. Anyways, after the fitting with fitter #2, I made an appointment with fitter #1 and told him I purchased the Mizzys he recommended and I was ready for shafts. He fitted me into the same 130x and didn't even mention another club head. He said he was impressed with my work, and learning to strike these better is just going to improve my ball striking. So take it for what it's worth...be honest with the club fitter and make sure they know your goals at the game.

what number iron were you hitting with the 2nd guy? 1.42 is pretty high. maybe even impossibly high if it's a mid iron. i doubt his monitor even measure club speed and just works backward from ball speed using a fixed smash factor.

Cool. Thinking about switching to a full bag fitting is possible. Man, that socks about your clubs.
