North Dallas (Allen, Plano, McKinney, Frisco) Practice Facilities

I live in the north Dallas area and with children and low paying job I am unable to join a Country Club in the area. I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations on good public practice facilities that have a range program. I went out to Watters Creek in Allen over the weekend, I felt like I was hitting out of a bunker and I could not find a even surface. Thanks!

I agree the range at Watters Creek can be pretty bad at times, don't move hitting areas enough. Check Pecan Hollow in Plano usually real good range conditions, believe they have a program for range usage to save a little money.

I just played Pecan Hollow. They have excellent practice facilities including a hole short course. Range balls were VERY low end, i think some of the balls were glow in the dark balls for some reason. Other than that, the turf conditions were fantastic. It's an all grass range as well. Also, check out the Golden Bear facility off of Trinity Mills. I think it changed names but it was always in great shape.

I find that most public courses up here have terrible ranges or have to hit from mats. Last time I went Frisco Lakes had a good practice area but it's far from me now. I live on Ridgeview Ranch and do their program but it is all mats 98% of the time so I would not recommend it.

Westridge in McKinney has a pretty good range. They have mats but only use them on Tuesdays or after wet weather. The range balls are mostly new. Lots of kids make it difficult to use one of the three putting/chipping greens.

Pecan Hollow and Sherrill Park are both pretty good, although SP doesn't rotate its hitting area as much. Keeton Park in east Dallas has a nice facility, but it might be a bit of a trip for you. I don't know of PH or SP have limited flight range balls or not, but I know Keeton does not. No mats on any of the three.
