I think you have to blow on GripMaster grips...

On recommendations from this site (thanks) I decided to try the leather GripMasters. I always regrip my clubs myself in the garage ever year. For years now it's been midsize Golf Pride full cord tour wraps. Tape, paint thinner, and run them home. No problem except a little concentration on the two 0.620 shafts I have. The guy at GripMaster says they go on like any other grip but I might want to blow them on the 0.620... never done that before. Quick google and it sounds simple at clubmaker-online (I've got a heavy duty compressor for working on the car and a barbed nozzle). GOOD THING! I go to run the first one on my wedge and it goes on about 2 inches pushing the tape glue in front of it and stops. I quickly pulled it off and started over with the compressor and nozzle. Great! A bit messy with the glue spatters blowing out the front of the grip as it goes on but this works really well and you don't have to worry about catching that somewhat delicate underlisting they told me to watch for. The full cords were rock firm compared to these which have some squish to them. Still feel firm enough. They feel really good as a matter of fact. Can't wait to get them on the course. Oh. I got the GMRO OSSRP, 0.600 shaft (which is the shaft size of the rest of my clubs). GMMS 135 for the putter.

I have never done it, but I don't think you use grip tape when blowing grips on. If you did, it would be build up tape to get them to the size you want. Maybe I'm misunderstanding how you tried to blow them on though? My understanding is that the air acts as the grip tape, and you don't need any tape. The tape activated by solvent is to "slide" the grip on normally, and the air is supposed to take the place of that.

No tape needed when blowing them on.

LOL, I guess I'll be cutting them off when they wear out. Yeesh, and I've been dealing with the tape and fluid all these years with a compressor sitting right next to me. Using the tape, solvent AND the compressor I was sliding them on to about an inch away where it got very hard to push against and then removing the air gun and pushing them home by hand... was using 75 lbs... might have had something to do with that. haha (only half blond)

guys, gripmaster grips are pretensioned for either a .60 or a .58 butt shaft. we do not recommend that you put them on the .620 shaft. an experienced clubfitter maybe able to do it with air and no tape using the .60 grip but again we do not recommend it.

btw, if you wore a size 12 shoe would you buy size 10's. on the other hand rubber overshoes come in one size fits all.

call me or email use if you would like to talk about this in more detail.

regards,

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
