Can you buy them?

Just noticed that SC has some new stamps and got me wondering if you can purchase stamps for personla use somewhere? Also, what does it entail to get the stamp on?

You can buy metal punch sets at several places online. I dont know much about them, I know there are various levels of punches in terms of what they are made of, but most are alphabets with a few symbols.

These types of punch sets can be purchased at any tool supply store, maybe even some hardware stores.

i would never trust myself with any hammer near a putter!!

leave it all to the pros!!

Anyway at my home club if i tryed to resell a putter with initials on it theyd want it half price!

You can do it, But i recommend going to somewhere like goodwill to get some cheap clubs to practice on. Make sure the club is secure. best way I found is with a heavy duty bench vise and some wood blocks so as not to mar the finish.

Chris, is there any benefit to trying to heat the spot up before you stamp it? Never done it before but thinking of practicing on some old wedges.

I tried on one wedge, and didn't notice any difference. Relly didn't want to heat the putter heads due to paintfills/finishes and all that. The putters I did do, I just vised nice and snug and used a small sledge to get a good first hit. It really is a PITA if you have to hit it again as it's hard to line it p just the same way again.

There is one member on here who has a putter company that does 100% handstamped work. Hopefully he will chime in as he is more of an expert than me when it comes to this subject.

hi guys - i'm not the member with the putter company...but one tip i have is to put a piece of electrical tape over the area you are stamping. This makes it much easier to line up the 2nd (and 3rd, and 4th) whacks with the hammer. Hope it helps...

Use grip tape it sticks the stamp to it.
