How can I tell the age of my Bullseye?

I'm currently playing with a Bullseye my dad gave over 20 years ago, but he doesn't remember when he got it.

It's pre-Titleist ... John Reuter, Jr., Acushnet.

Stamped: LB - M - 4 - S ... I believe this means Light Blade - mid (regular) lie - 34 inches long - standard grip

I've changed the grip, but it had a black wrapped leather. The shaft is fluted, with a dull matte finish.

Any ideas on the age, or how I could date it?

Driver: Titleist TS3, 8.5°

2 Wood: Adams InSight XTD, 10.5°

Fairway: Callaway Rogue ST Max LS, 18°

Utility Iron: Cleveland UHX, 20°

Irons: Titleist 718 AP1, 5-GW, 24°-48°
UW: Titleist Vokey SM8, 52°F

LW: Titleist Vokey SM8, 60°D
Putter: Bettinardi inovai 6.0 slant neck, 34"
Ball: Bridgestone Tour B RX
Bag: Sun Mountain Metro Sunday Bag

If memory serves, Acushnet went to a rubber grip in 1979/80, I was buying for my golfshop and remember the "upgrade" :)

The 1950's, a wild guess.

I have two. Neither have Titleist on them, just Acushnet.

I think one of mine has pat. pend. on it.

I'll have to check mine ... I've never noticed a pat. pend or a #.

Quick note. Bullseye putters with the "Acushnet" stamps were Titleist putters, just before the Titleist name took over the use of Acushnet. The Pat Pend Bullseye putters are more rare and are pre-Acushnet. The company was sold to Acushnet when it was still manufacturing putters in South Phoenix and it remained there for a time, after the purchase.

I believe there is a great thread on this subject either in this forum or in the Classics and Persimmons section. Well worth the read and I am a very big fan of that putter.

I have a Bulls Eye putter that only has Bulls Eye on it and a Patent Pending mark with John Reuter’ Jr’s name under it. No dates. I’m refinishing and have removed all pits from it. Originally it had a leather grip and the top end, which I’ve left on for now, is wood approximately 1” long with a hard piece of plastic capped on it and has a screw in the top of it. Any feedback regarding age would be greatly appreciated. I’d like to have as close to an original grip put on it. Thank you, Richard

Just picked up a  Bullseye for my grandson at Goodwill. I’ve had one for forty years, and he loves it. The one I picked up today has a leather grip that says “Bullseye Titleist.   Not sure of the age or value, and really don’t care. Hopefully, he’ll remember his Papa every time he drops a snake  Hit it hard, go find it, and hit it again.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
