I saw this ad on the Golf Channel. Has anyone tried this? Any comments? Hate dumping another $100 on a training aid. Heck, I've gotten so many over the years.

Tried it and it does work. If you are concerned about dropping $100, I suggest you try the book first. It is available on amazon.com and comes with a CD.

I dont think Tour Tempo will provide any kind of long term benefit for your game. Anyone who suggests you can improve your swing purely by swinging faster is talking a load of cra*. I have read book, buy that first if you must.

I've used Tour Tempo and think it's potentially very beneficial. I've also been shown tons of video clips of tour players who swing in the 3 to 1 ratio. Take a look at young Nancy Lopez when she was good vs old Nancy Lopez when she was not. As to swing fast, watch the tour players. Even guys that everyone thinks of as slow (Els as one example) take no more than 1 second or so from the time they initiate their backswing to the time they strike the ball. He looks slow cause he's so smooth. I think you'd be hard pressed to find one really good player who takes the club back real slow. I see folks at the range and I can count a 1001, 1002, 1003, 1004. These folks are never consistent. You have to swing the club back and swing the club through. No good player picks it up slowly. Now, I think you can rush the transition, but that's a different issue.

I got the Tour Tempo book a few days back. I'm about half way through it. The principals are pretty sound and he does do a pretty good job of convincing you it's a good idea. The basic Y and L positions he teaches are also correct as far as I can tell, but I didn't spend any time on that yet(ever?). I was mostly interested in this for the timing stuff.

I tried the slowest of the three main rates with a 7 iron and they felt really slow. I bumped it up to the middle rate(24/8) and it started to feel more normal. Probably 80%. Then when I went to 21/7 it finally felt like a full speed swing without swinging out of my shoes.

The book suggest (initially at least) using the slowest pace for the drive. I tried it at 21/7 and had no trouble swinging the driver like this. It felt just like my natural pace.

Still not sure what to make of it, but it appears I was already swinging pretty close to "tour tempo". Still want to finish the book and check out the disc more.

Kinda curious about getting some tones in 18/6 just to feel what it's like. I never got to exclaim how I can't swing that fast. It came with a single example of the next two slower tones(30/10 and 33/11).
