From Garmin S2 to G8...I've been missing out

Have had the Garmin S2 watch for a while now and have been pretty happy with it giving numbers for front, middle, and back of green.

 

Then I played at a course that had touch screen GPS' on carts that gave you a map of each hole that you could point anywhere on the hole and it would tell you the distance from your location to that point and then the distance from that point to the middle of the green.

 

After doing a little research I finally pulled the trigger yeaterday and purchased the G8 and it came in this afternoon. Not only does it let you point to a target, but the feature that really sold me was the Plays like setting that you can turn on and off. This is the first GPS I've seen that takes elevation into account.

 

I also like the Preview mode. You can pull up any course and study any hole that you like. I'm playing in a 36 hole tournament next month that I've never played before and this will be huge for my preparation.

 

While it was a little pricey, in my opinion it is well worth it.

The G8 sounds great. I am still using a G6 and would be hard pressed to play without it. I have friends that use the wrist watch style GPS's but they often ask me for more information from my G6. Looking forward to upgrading when the G6 dies.

Played 9 holes with it earlier. The plays like yardage seems pretty accurate. It also lets you enter your club distances and it gives you a recommemdation on what club to hit.
