I was in South Africa 2 years ago for 6 weeks. It is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. I played both courses in Sun City twice and I played 9 rounds in Potchchefstroom ( probably spelled wrong) and 3 in Cape Town. IMO Cape Town is the most beautiful city in the world. My signature pic is from Sun City where we stayed for 6 days.

I agree, I've been to South Africa as well, but it was back in 2003, before I took up golf.

It is one of the most beautiful countries on earth. Lots of variety in climate.

Next time I go, I'm definitely taking my clubs with me.

Cape Town born and raised, now living in Las Vegas. I miss SA like crazy, and hope to one day return.

PS: I played King David when I was there earlier this year. AMAZING golf club. Best in Cape Province IMHO. I can't believe how much it has changed since I last played there as a Junior in the 80's.

Check on Facebook, there is a group "GolfcentralSA". In the photo section there, you will a few good photos.

Haha. I think it's time to change that. Would be good to have a game with the Forum bunch some time. Now if the golf shops would just learn to stock the clubs I need! :p

My new favorite track in CT is King David. What a great track (yes I know location is not the best). Will be playing Humewood and East London on this trip. Probably throw in Pezula and George into the mix. Can't wait.

If in Cape town, what about Dezalze or Erinvale (two favourites of mine)

East London...only played it once and luuuuvved it. I must make another plan this Dec/Jan when on holiday.

They are OK. The only thing about Erinvale is that the housing is too intrusive. Dezalze is just OK to me. I really like Pearl Valley. Expensive though. Have you played King David? Absolutely brilliant course.

Yeah.have played KD quite a few times. I like its design but prefer the other two.

Pearl Valley always elicits a debate of its own. I'm not as huge a fan as some, but will certainly play when I get the chance (at sane rates).

I'm not biggest fan of Jack's designs, (those that I have played) but that is also a debate all of its own.

Talking about your roots.....

I have just booked a 4 ball in your alma mater's Golfday at Royal PA, 2 days after Christmas, with a T time at the sprightly hour of 05:55 (latest time I could get !!!). 1st 4 ball tees off at 5am sharp. Needless to say it is a packed field.

Now to find 3 friends who don't mind leaving Kenton at about 5am (whilst on holiday).....to get there in time.

I'm an American, but my GF is from Mpumalanga (living in Pretoria now). Just went for a visit a few weeks back and absolutely fell in love. Didn't get to play, but I saw a lekker course near Kimberly that looked challenging and just beautiful. I'll be heading back down in December next for holiday in Cape Town and perhaps a run up the coast to Namibia too. Maybe I'll get a round or two in while I'm down next?

Anyway, save a Castle and a pinch of biltong for me.
