Nike Method vs. Method Core/Core X

This is a blended post.....

1st question: is the feel difference between a method (milled face) vs. method core (with insert) drastic? Does the milled face really feel that much better or is it a preference? I assume the grooves put a nice roll on the ball regardless?

2nd question: does anybody know anything about or own/have owned a method core x? (online info shows there have been multiple method and method core lines....) I just bought a MC-4ix and it has a grey insert rather than the red. I can't seem to find any info on the grey inserts?

I'm asking these questions to see if I should keep the center shaft MC-4ix or if I should opt for the Method 004 (this is purely a feel and personal experience/suggestion question and has nothing to do with type - cs vs. traditional)

Thanks in advance!

I game a Method Mod 30 303 stainless milled. Its similar to the Method in that the face is milled and both have the slot cut out and the black insert material is poured in behind the steel face. The milled face is solid, almost a firm click. I rolled a Method core at Dick's a number of years ago and I remember it being softer than the milled face which is the norm for most OEMs. I had my Mod 30 bent after a S.A.M fitting session and am putting much better this year.

Thanks for the feedback. I think that is the common thread between these two putters. Hard firm "click" on method milled vs. softer mushy feel with the inserts on the core. I've been gaming insert putters up until my Cleveland without insert but this thing is so soft I don't quite remember the feel of a firm responsive putter face. If this was a newer putter I could just go try it out for feels but I doubt I'll run across one at a golf shop!

1. There is a pretty big difference. I don't think either one feels bad, just different. Milled is a lot more firm and almost feels springy coming off the face.

2. Have had a Core and a Core X and couldn't feel the difference between the two. Currently game a MC01W because I'm left handed and love a flow neck but don't want to spend 250+ for one.

With that being said, did you like that firm springy feel or do you prefer the insert?

Also, I can't seem to find any info about the core x. Is it the 2014 model with new shapes and new color on insert? Any other differences you notice?

Thanks for the feedback.

I think it depends on the ball being played. I've gone to a softer ball and with the insert it's almost too soft of a feeling now. As for the X line, I think you hit it on the head. Just a couple new shapes and insert color.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
