Long Island NY private clubs under 10k... are there any?

Not sure what you're implying, but I've spoken with nearly a dozen clubs in the area the past month and didn't have any problems getting quotes. Most over email, some of the boomers want a phone call on their rotary.

 

Nissequoque is the latter... probably why they need to send out fliers in the mail. It's 2022 grandpa.

Well, times have changed for the better then. In the past, private clubs only discussed things like that in person.

Most club pricing is out of reach for 95% of Long Island golfers and you can't get a time on any course as a single before 10:00 am on a weekend.  Green Fees with cart pricing is out of control too.

Did anyone happen to call or otherwise get any info on pricing at Nissequogue? I live in the area and received the same postcard. Almost certainly won't be able to pull the trigger this year, so ideally I'd rather not "poke" them and start a pestering recruitment initiative, but I am very curious what cost the Junior membership runs.

 Thanks! I actually submitted a web inquiry myself on Monday, but have not heard back yet, interestingly enough.

I know this is old and probably forgotten. But did you ever get prices on the nissaquage club? In the same boat. Almost 99% can’t do it but very curious.

I never did get any concrete numbers from them. Like you, there’s almost no chance I could pull the trigger on it anyway…but I remain very curious regardless!

I think this only works if you're under 40 or doing a weekday membership.  The problem is that these membership opportunities are mostly gone; with COVID a lot of younger people joined clubs cause there was nothing else to do.  The club I joined during COVID has a wait list a mile long and I'm sure it's the same at numerous other clubs.  

 

The only two places I'm aware of that maybe fit are North Hills Country Club and The Muttontown Club, the latter of which is slightly above the $10k ceiling.  The Rock Golf Club went private ~1 year ago now, it might fit this profile too.

I don't know how useful, but if you have access, joining a reciprocal club can be way cheaper. For example, Cornell club will run you less that $1,000 per year and provides reciprocal membership to Engineers.
