Any Olympic Club Members?

Just curious if there are any O-Club members on this forum who hit the range frequently. I'm not a member, but live extremely close and, while I have several friends who are members, none are particularly dedicated to hitting the range.

 

It's a long shot, but I'm hoping I can find someone who might be willing to take on a range buddy as grass ranges in SF are a bit of a challenge.

When I joined the club in the mid-80's, the range was about 1/3 its current size, but never was crowded and I could sometimes have the place to myself if I just wanted to practice. Use of the range was limited to golf members or downtown members who were playing one of the courses that day (Lake or Ocean...the Cliffs course didn't exist). There was also a 225 yd practice fairway (the "pit") at the end of the parking lot with three greens and it allowed shots with a shag bag, with use restricted to golf members. The old (and NLE) snack shack on the Ocean course was nearby, so it was a nice spot to hang out.

 

Times have changed as the the range has gotten much bigger and restrictions on use have loosened. In the old days, no one took guests to range except their guests for play on the courses...maybe that has changed also...I'm not sure (I quit club about 6 years ago).

Yeah - it's much looser now. Several of my friends are downtown members, and while we CAN go whenever, they never want to hit the range (or play for that matter), they have no desire.

How can you have no desire to play that course?

They aren't really golfers. :( Just swimmers and runners on the O Club teams who have access for cheap via membership.

Guests may not use the range unless their host has paid for them to play one of the courses that day.

I always believed that the Cliffs course shouldn't count as "one of the courses", but that wasn't the case.
