A big box store is not at all comparable to CC. They are targeted at a golfer who wants the absolute most thorough fitting, frequently too thorough unless you're near scratch or have very specific (high end, boutique shaft) wants/needs. Also, price is a big factor. CC will frequently try to upsell you on exotic shafts, SST pure, custom stamping, etc. Mostly stuff that you could do for less or go without entirely. And their fitting costs are not applied towards purchase as they can be hours long. My only issue with them is their upsell/partnership with exotic shaft companies, and it is always indoors.

I've never been to a PGA SS, so this might not be the best comparison. I worked for GG for a few years, and did "fittings". They weren't really fittings, but it was all we had available. Usually a big box indoor fitting isn't worth the coin unless you buy on the spot and the fitting cost is applied towards the purchase. Great for a budget player who wants something better than stock, but likely not as optimized as it could be. Most mid-high hdcp players aren't consistent enough to benefit from all aspects, but everyone can benefit from some level of fitting.

However, a big box may be too basic for you. They might hand you 5 drivers to start, and only have stock or limited custom shaft/head options, and have you hit on indoor bays on older launch monitors. Usually takes a half hour. Usually, that isn't enough time to really get someone fit properly.

I don't hit as well indoors, never have, not even when I had time to kill hitting indoors as GG - and still hit like crap inside. So for me, it was worth the $50 premium to get fit on Trackman outdoors, rather than a GC2 or GCQuad indoors. I had a one hour driver fitting with one clubhead in mind from the start, and a plethora of shaft and head loft/weight options to try, including different length driver shafts - which is generally rare at a clubfitter.

If you want the absolute technical best, give CC a shot. If not, PGA SS might be a bit short, but probably better than some other big boxes. I'd honestly say go local if you have another option to get fit.
