Tour Adams Satin A-Tour Irons.....pictures

Recommended Posts

I hit a set of the chrome today- very impressive. Awesome rounded sole grind. Long irons were surprisingly easy to hit. Playing tomorrow with the owner so will have a chance to hit them on course. He was fit at Adams and told they were Endo forged in the chrome.

... how do you like them compared to the i-506's (those still performing well for you?)?

So the chrome are Endo forged and the satin are "soft cast" ??? You would think both are forged or both not.

There are conflicting stories about these..

Either way--I want a set!!

To set the record straight...the Adams aTours are NOT forged. Both the chrome and the satin sets are made the same way, only the finish is different. I was told that the casting method that Adams uses gives them more consistency in the heads as opposed to having them forged.

I've been told otherwise. Chrome Endo forged and Satin cast.

The Srixons are definitely softer. The Adams are nice and square-but certainly more demanding. Will give them a good run tomorrow.

Cheers

Good looking set of irons. Adams would be wise to make these readily available to the public to increase the Adams name awareness and takea away the stigma of being clubs for old farts.

Are they forged?

Yes, they are forged irons.

After playing a few rounds with these A-Tours (Satin) and lugging them around in my trunk for a few weeks I would expect more bag chatter than I'm seeing on my set if they are forged, so perhaps they are some type of soft cast.....not sure.

Having said that, the feel of the irons is very good: not as buttery soft as some Mizunos, but I certainly don't "notice" the feel like I do on cast heads. And the sole grind/performance is outstanding.

Adams has a winner with the A-Tours and they need to bring them to market, imo. I would be very impressed with the company if they invested the money to offer both forged and soft cast heads in the A-Tours.

is the wide sole on the 506's giving you any trouble?

Well--I'e heard there are some limited sets to some Adams reps.. My rep is not one of them :dntknw:

He said maybe by summer-but he has no clue. I had to give him the info on these and show him pics!!

One thing on the different reports of the satin and chrome sets being forged--one forged and the other cast--or both cast ----I have no idea and not claiming to know ---but does it sound odd to anyone other than me --that if both sets ARE identical ---would Adams or could Adams make a cast mold of the iron AND forge the identical iron so the only thing that would be different is the finish??

I do know-my tour issue Adams Pugielli's are soft cast-and they feel as soft as anything forged I play

TM R1 Phenom
Ping 18*
TM 22*
Mizuno Easy Forged
TM 52-56=60
2 ball blade milled

Correct these are not forged, but a new soft cast. Comparable to the CMM casting Cleveland uses, but these feel an great!
