xstiff shafts and a forgiving head

I use to game Nike VR split cavity irons with DG x100 shaft. Last season I switch to a more forgiving iron in the Callaway XR16s with a TT Speedstep80. Although I’m enjoying the forgiveness of the head I’m missing the flight consistency I was getting from a heavier and stiffer shaft.

I’m wondering if anyone has experience putting a xstiff shaft with a game improvement head and what were the results?

I have X100's in my Mizuno Forged 919s after moving from MP4 blades. I love how they feel. I would just make sure that your swingweights with the shaft/head combo are in your comfort zone. I like my irons at around D6 for the PW-8 iron and D4 for 7iron on up...but that is all personal preference and feel. I think you may be be struggling with the speedstep 80s because they are so much lighter than X100 shafts......X100's being 130 gram shafts and Speed steps being 80 gram shafts. I am by no means an expert but I do love to swap out shafts and build clubs as a hobby so I hope this helps. Good luck!
