Clubcorp, national golf club or other?

I have been looking into potentially getting a Clubcorp membership. I am based out of Southern CA and there are several courses around me. Additionally I travel for work and there are courses where I usually go (west coast). However, I am a bit confused on what the membership is and how it works. I would be eligible for their young executive membership. However, I found some information and the National Golf Club looks to be much cheaper. Anyone have experience or has knowledge on either one? Or if you have another national membership type option, please let me know. I am not committed to any particular one.

Looking at the National Golf Club, it looks like it is made up mostly of public and resort courses. There are only 20 private clubs. Not sure the benefit of joining a service like that unless there is a discount. If you are looking for private courses, ClubCorp gives you access to a ton of mid range private golf courses. If getting on to private courses ClubCorp may be a better fit for you.

Realize that most Clubcorp courses are much closer to semi-private than private due to large memberships and the traveling club corp program. Most aren't anything amazing, but should be at least as good conditions as the better public courses in the area. Tee sheets are usually pretty full on the weekends. If you travel a couple times a month and just want to play somewhere on each trip, the traveling program can't be beat at the cost they charge in most areas. If you're expecting an exclusive private course feel and experience, you will be disappointed at the majority of them.
