Bag Boy Nitron vs. Bag Boy Compact 3

Since i hit the ripe age of 31, I've found that carrying a bag for every round I play is no longer an option. So I'm searching for a push cart. I quickly eliminated anything Clicgear due to the seemingly numerous cumbersome steps it takes to get those things unfolded and folded back up again.

 

Looking at the Bag Boy Compact 3, it looks like the same exact thing as the Nitron, just without the auto-open feature. Can anybody confirm this? The price is only cheaper by $30, but theres more availability out there for the Compact 3 right now.

I'm actually looking at the same two carts for the reasons you mentioned. I'd like to look at these in person before I decide but the local Golf Galaxy only has the Bag Boy Nitron. If I can find somewhere that has both I will go check them out and report my findings here.

I would never tell another person what they should get or like. But....I will say I have the Clicgear 4.0 and it takes like 3 seconds to open/close. I had a BagBoy before and once I switched to the 4.0 and used it....I will never go back. The Nitron was a model I was considering back when I got the 4.0. The quality of the 4.0 just seems to really separate itself from any of the Bag Boy models.

@italianstallion wondering which one you ended up getting? I'm also in between the compact 3 and nitron.

@Supa Dupa Fly I personally use the Bag Boy Compact 3 for 2 years now and my dad bought the Nitron a few months later. They are identitcal apart from the auto-open feature. I would get the Compact and spend the extra cash on something else. 

 

Fantastic pushcarts. Bags fit well, and I really like small details like the phone holder, water bottle holder, and the bag under the handle which is perfect for your range finder. I feel like these carts include a lot of features for which Clicgear asks expensive accessoires.

I too have the Nitron, love it, the auto open feature is what got me over the other push carts, so easy to open and close, plus it is very light, like posted above, can't and won't tell anyone what to do with their money, get whichever one looks and works best for you.

Thanks for getting back. The main thing that has set me on the bagboy as opposed to clicgear path is the bb is lighter and over the course of 18 holes on a hilly course will add up quick.

One thing you mentioned, you said the compact has the bag under the handle? Maybe they got rid of this feature because this doesn’t show on Amazon pictures. Just wanted to make sure.

Thanks, I’ve narrowed it down to the nitron and compact 3. Read a lot of reviews how auto open is the feature that won them over, but not sure how useful that will be compared to one that isn’t, at least for me. Mind you, I have not tried it so, maybe auto open becomes a no brainer once I actually experience it.

Just to ensure I am clear, I have owned clicgears as well, not only the auto opening was the game changer for me,  the ease of folding it back down/closing is also a great feature, unlock the handle and push down it will fold easily and fast, again, get what suits your eye and functions better for you, take care.

It's hard to see, but there is a nylon accessory bag under the console. I really like it, perfect for the range finder. 

 

I can take a picture in the weekend in use.

Some of the Compact 3  models did not come with the bag......mine didn't come with one. I removed the bag from my BB Quad and installed it on my Compact 3

I went with the Nitron. I’ve had it for a couple years now and I’m very happy with the purchase. The ease of setup and breakdown make using it so easy.
