Project X Iron Tip Trimming Question

Purchased a Project X 8 Iron Stiff flex steel shaft from Golf Deals and Steals.  They have it labeled for an 8 iron at 38".  But also state the shaft is uncut, brand new.  I thought these shafts raw were 41".  And how can they determine the shaft is for an 8 iron if it is uncut?  I am questioning this because I am unsure if I need to tip trim it.  I can determine the length and butt cut as needed.  But not sure if I need to tip trim.  Uncut for an 8 iron Project X states the shaft needs to be tip trimmed 3.5".  The shaft comes from Golf Deals and Steals with no instructions.  When I inquired about this, they stated this is how they received the shafts from Project X as brand new.  And they were unwilling to help any further.  I am assuming the shaft has already been tip trimmed 3" and that is how it went from 41 to 38.  Before installing I wanted to get some other opinions.  Thanks.

Taper tip shafts are sold in discrete lengths,  not single length blanks.   Sounds like you might have ended up with a taper tip 8i shaft.   You'd need to check the tip with calipers to determine if that's the case.

Although, despite what the web site says I've heard that PX also has discrete length parallel tip shafts as well as the single length blanks.   They are basically the same as the taper tip shafts but just didn't have the taper added.  So maybe you got one of those.

Thanks for the response.  I should have also mention that it is a .370 Parallel tip.
