YSC Shaft

I have a couple of old SC putters. How can I figure out whether the shafts are YSC or not? Do I have to take the grips off? Thanks.

Are they plumber's neck putters? What's the step pattern?

 

Does the step pattern look like this? If so, it's a YSC.

I think you need more than the step pattern.   Ideally you would want to use the measurement from top to first step but I have read conflicting numbers on that as well.   I have a couple of uncut YSC shafts and it is 10.5” from tip to first step.

If the step pattern matches Tiger's putter and its from the Scotty Cameron YSC era, there aren't any other options--it's a YSC.  I think having the tip to first step measurement is nice, but not essential.

if he is the original owner and the shaft band is in place  then I agree.   If not the shaft could have been replaced and the step pattern could look similar to a picture.

Mil spec 35 330 shaft Band still looks like the day it came out in pristine shape so that's a ysc?

 

Did Ping not use a ysc back in the day in the anser?

 it seems like a True Temper stepped putter shaft from when I grew up playing in the 90s and early 2000s was as common as the common cold...no?

How is the ysc any different than your regular stepped putter shaft?

Also have a 2003 Studio Stainless NP2 34 340 I bought New Old Stock still had the wrapper on the Cameron Studio Design grip a few years ago. gorgeous original Shaft band.. is that a ysc?

I think so? For a 35” putter there should be 4 visible steps, ~3.25” apart. The straight tip going into the neck should be  ~10.75” (from the bottom of the plumbers neck bucket)

Would a 34" stock Cameron Studio Stainless NP2 Stepped Shaft be aTT YSC also? Mint ++ condition all original, pristine original shaft band also back when they were still wrapped horizontally.

Its stamped 340g & 34" but closer to 34 3/8 as the earlier Cameron's were known for not having the best quality control with their lengths & sometimes even head weight (pro plat). Would it being 34" change the length between steps other than 3.25?

sounds like it.  cutting it to 34" wouldn't change the distance between steps, it would only change the distance from the bottom of the grip to the first visible step.
