2 iron help!

Hey guys! 

need some help with my 2 iron.

 

as you see below I have a Taylormade UDI SIM 2 iron, with a Diamana Stiff Flex shaft. 
 

1. First question, my shaft is starting to make a crackling sound on the inside &

im guessing it’s starting to break? 
 

2. I am looking in to purchasing a new shaft for it, what would you recommend I do?

 

I would prefer a stiff-Xstiff shaft, I am pretty new to getting shafts changed so any help would be much appreciated!

When carbon fiber structures fail, they tend to do so catastrophically. Yours may just be degraded, but it’s at least as likely that you’re hearing loose epoxy. Take it to a competent club repair shop if available and have them pull the shaft, inspect it, and reglue it.

Crackling noise inside may be loose glue. 

 

If I see correctly, that Diamana is mid-bend stiff tip shaft.  If you hit it well, make sure you identify the specs of that Diamana shaft and try to match specs in the next shaft.  Depending on the shaft, stiff and X-stiff profiles will feel very different.  Bend profile is important.

 

My 2 iron has a Tensei AV White 90g stout HIGH bend "S" shaft.  I have that same shaft in 3i only 92g and same only 94g in 4i, and MMT 125s in 5-LW.  This is a first for me, as my shafts have always matched.

Thanks guys appreciate the feedback. Went out and played yesterday with her & when struck flush I was sending it 260-270 meters which I was very happy with! Just need to find the middle of the club face more often 🤪
