Something about old school Ping

I never did do it.....When I play with a full set with staff bag and trolley I have stuck with the Ping G-Series irons and have gotten very consistent with them and have no intention of changing them..........however, when I play my weekly midweek retro match and any time I play over the winter months (that's if the courses are actually open here in the UK) I still pull out the Sunday pencil bag with my odd numbered Zing 2 irons and yep, they are still amazing for me.

 

I was kinda gutted I never got on with the ISI's....love the look of them, especially behind the ball but they were very harsh feeling. Still eying a set of BeCu and BeNi ISI's though for some reason.

I'm fairly new to golf, and although I inherited my dads set of fairly nice Callaway's, I love me some old Ping's.

I've collected and cleaned up a couple putters for myself, and always on the lookout for iron sets, to pass on to mates who want to pick up golf.

 

They definitely live up to their 'tried and true' label, and they look so good!

eye 2 BeCu … ISI BeNi … Zing 2 steel with BeCu wedges … these are a few of my favourite things

 

until yesterday the bag was all G400 and s55’s and original Glides 

 

using a white DLX down here in Florida … have the all black version at home in Canada

My local golf course has reopened today after being closed for over 2 weeks due to the bad UK weather....going after work for 9 holes using the minimalist bag but do I play the odd numbered zing 2's or the Eye 2 BeCu's?

I ended up playing the Zing 2's as they were already in my Sunday bag and I was in a bit of a rush.

 

No shock here but they performed as normal....towering straight shots unless a fade or draw was required.

 

Love the Zing 2's so much but they aren't going to knock the G-Series irons out the full time bag but I would have no problem gaming them full time if i had to.

 

On a side note, has anyone had the Zing 2's reshafted with modern shafts?

 

If so, how did you find they performed compared to the original shafts?

 

Mine have original ping shafts as per the label but I can't think which ones off the top of my head ..JZ maybe?

Love the retro style of your setup as a fellow PING iron lover.  Very clean aesthetics.

Just picked this up! The old fella I bought it off was amazed at my enthusiasm for something he thought nobody would want these days.

Range session with mates tomorrow night to see if we can even hit it!
