Scotland with Elderly Parents

So I’m starting to look at a Scotland trip for next year centered on St. Andrews and East Lothian.  I’m thinking of taking my parents along and would love to play a couple of rounds with them but, for my dad especially, walking is just not doable (back, hip and knee surgeries), even with a caddie.  
 

We know some courses are just going to be a total no go (Old Course, North Berwick) but has anyone had any experience requesting to use a cart in those regions?

I know you can get carts (buggies) at Gullane as some of the players in our group trip in June used them.  Unfortunately, I can't speak to how much prior notice is required to secure their use as that was handled by our organizers.  The No. 1 Course and North Berwick were the only 2 courses we played in that specific area.

All of the St. Andrews Links courses accept TOC allow carts (buggies) for players over the age of 65. You can also use one at Kilspindie, Crail, and I’m sure there are others. Most of the courses will have info on their site regarding buggies.

The Fairmont hotel in town has 2 courses (Kittocks and Torrance)  they both have buggies (golf carts).  Also, The Dukes Course has buggies.  Kittocks course is really good and inexpensive.
