I have a 19* TRC and love it. I know the MD is more popular but I can't get passed the boxy looks, and the sleeker shape of the TRC just fits my eye. I got this one to replace my 2 iron, and found that it has a lot more utility especially out of the rough. I tried to like the MD but just coudn't get as much out of it in trouble spots. I will admit that I liked the MD trajectory much better off the tee, but I couldn't hold the greens nearly as well.

What I like about the Md is that its leading edge is very sharp, thus easy to hit off tight fairways as well as thick rough.

Great info. Thank you!! I am looking to replace either my 1-iron or my 2-iron. I want to hit it a bit higher than I would normally do with the 2-iron, but still get good control. Here in the US I have found that I need something that hits high on par 5 second shots.

Does anyone have any experience with the MD 15* or the TRC 14*... Are these basically like 3-woods distance wise??

I initially began using the 17* and 21* MD's this past year as part of my club set, and as the year progressed I came to like them so much that they knocked all of the traditional FW's out of my bag with the exception of a Strong 3. Why? Equivalent (or better) distances, and FAR more versatility.

Depending on course layout, etc. I'll either play a Driver, 13* Strong 3, 17*MD, 21*MD combo OR a Driver, 15*MD, 19* MD combo. The things just work for me. They may or may not do the same for you.

I've had no problem replicating my "traditional 3 wood" distances with the 15* MD. Bear in mind, though, that a very key part of this equation is that I figured out which shaft worked for ME in THIS particular club. Too many people stick with the stock IROD and then b**** that the club launches too low, they can't get the ball off the deck, etc. Don't be that guy. The IROD doesn't work for everyone. Experiment a bit, and I think that you'll be surprised. Fuji 904hb, Fuji Banzai, Diamana h, Aldila NVS, Graphite Design Tour AD, Grafalloy ProLaunch HY - they are all potential options, and I'm sure there are many more you could try as well.

Good luck with it.

I have 3 clubs you are discussing, 18* RC (TRC), 19* md, 21* md. I have had to tweak them to end up perfect where they are.

I don't carry a 3i at all. So the upper part of my bag varies.

I love the 18* RC I've got a purple ice X @ 42" and it's about a 225-230yrd. club, high and soft like a 5 wood, but slides thru any soil like a dream including deep rough and bunkers. :cheesy:

the 19* md has a NVS S Hybrid shaft @ 40.5", I use it like a 2i from the tee, on tight holes that don't fit my eye. It too goes about 225yds. but on a flat boring trajectory. Still easy to hit off the deck just does not spin as much as the TRC, so it's not as high and soft landing. :cheesy:

The 21* is having a tough time finding a full time spot in the bag. It's very close to the same club as the 19* :)

I know your laughing now at the fact I have 3 different clubs that produce the same distances, they do it differently, depending on my mood and the par 4's and 5's I'm playing that day.

Forgot to mention, both clubs have the ability to play that Pinehurst type of run shot around the greens with no problems. A useful fun shot that must be practiced to master.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
